They don't want to fuck up the PC version to accommodate a console version. Yes, Halo wars and some other RTS games play well but not without their limitations. It's still early in development so let them get the PC version out first and then they can think about an Xbox version.

Because RTS games suck on Consoles unless its Halo Wars which is designed alittle different. AoE is a serious RTS game that will require a Mouse and Keyboard. Much like StarCraft 2 not heading to Consoles.

This is a slap in the face to console gamers. It is 100% garbage to say X game doesn't work on consoles for Y reason. Not everyone use their console on a TV, most people own a mouse and keyboard, and in this day and age they have a wireless set up, so it is extreamly easy to share a M&K between your devices.

Going forward all Microsoft games, apps, programms, ect. need to be on XBO. The same should be true for PlayStation as well. This stereotype crap with devices needs to end. We all have our favorite form factors, and OS styles. Every device runs on the same basic hardware now days, it time that all devics are treated equal. I know that will sound corny to some, but it is the Got Damn TRUTH.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Its Microsofts IP, and given how dissapointing their gamescom event was and how dry it is on the exclusive front they should make every effort possible to get more exclusives on Xbox One. Instead they spent all this money to give something only for PC players, locking off their own 30 million users.

PS4 recentley got Sudden Strike 4, Xbox One didnt so dont come to me with RTS on consoles excuses, its pretty viable. Phill spencer is pretty incomptent at this point imo. Hes giving everything to PC bu it should go the other way too.

Why should they make every effort? They clearly don't want to. Would be nice if AoE4 was on Xbox. It would also be nice if it was on PS4, Switch, Android, iOS, Windows 7 and Linux. I don't really see the issue.

Though I do find it hilarious that suddenly "locking out 30m people" is a bad thing. Isn't that the point of exclusives? Isn't that why exclusives are soooooo great?

If the vast majority doesn't use their console on a TV, I'm really surprised. Similarly, if the vast majority aren't people that have never even considered using mouse and keyboard with their console, I'm really surprised. Are there even any games that support mouse and keyboard on Xbox One? Can they even be used in games? Who has a couch setup that makes them easy to use? You need some sort of a platform, preferably a comfortably high table at a comfortable distance. And finally: If someone cares that much about mouse and keyboard controls, what are the chances they're not already getting the game on PC?

I'm just trying to say that the number of people ready to use mouse and keyboard for console gaming, assuming it's even possible, is probably really small and might heavily overlap with PC owners or even PC gamers. Essentially, the vast majority of the game's purchasers would still be using a controller, and the game would have to be designed to work well with a controller. How difficult that is depends on the game but AoE being an RTS game, I'd put my money on it being pretty difficult until we know more.

I thought X1 supports keyboard and mouse? So what's the problem?

Are you nuts? Microsoft finally does something right, dont spoil it. This way (if it stays PC exclzsive) AoE 4 has a chance of being at least satisfyingly good.

Play anywhere is Xbox -> PC. Not PC -> Xbox.

They have been busy putting Xbox games on the PC, not PC games on the xbox.

'Play Anywhere' is 'Play Anywhere', not 'Play Xbox Games on PC'. Whether they decide to make a title a 'Play Anywhere' title is another question, but I'm pretty sure your interpretation of 'Play Anywhere' is simply wrong.

It's a simplistic strategy-lite game franchise, it should work fine on consoles.

What PC games have come to Xbox? Plenty of xbox games have gone to the PC. Gears and Forza being the obvious 2.

I fail to remember any games that were considerd PC that have made the trip over to the xbox, like how Gears and Forza were Xbox only - and then went to PC.

So seeing a "PC" game staying on PC doesn't surprise me.

What PC games has Microsoft even published/developed since early 2000s? Can't bring any PC games to consoles if you don't have any. Anyway, I wasn't arguing about PC games not having come over to Xbox... It was just your use of 'Play Anywhere' that I was criticizing. There's nothing preventing it from applying to games originally on PC, I think, and if any PC games (which are rare for MS these days) come over to consoles, they'll probably be Play Anywhere titles.
