Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Majority Of Switch Owners Prefer To Play At Home

That's not surprising, but I'm more interested in how people play it. I prefer to play the Switch at home, as it's obviously the most comfortable place to play it, but I enjoy playing it in portable mode more than docked mode.

Well, whichever you prefer, it's nice to have options.

Nintendo should release a cut-down Switch TV. Clearly the majority of the Switch base has proven that would be appealing to allot of gamers.

As said above, the poll proves nothing as, aside from "at home" the options don't really reflect the locations where most people would be playing the undocked Switch. For example, there's no workplace, no friend's house, no car, no school or campus option. Instead you have the beach, a park, public transport, and on an airplane, three places uncommon for Americans to go, and one of place that's an absolutely terrible idea due to the damage caused by sand and water.

I still believe Nintendo should release a cut-down Switch anyway. I would be first in line.

If Ouya could take a Tegra chip and give us a $99 console. Surely Nintendo could hit the $149 price point.
Price is still an important factor for allot of people... A lower price means more impulsive buyers.

I have never undocked my switch!

Maybe once by mistake.

I wish there was a docked/undocked option on a poll. I have only undocked my Switch twice, and I maybe played it as a handheld for about an hour total. Once I go back to college, I have a feeling I will use it as a handheld quite a bit. I have gaps between my classes and I don't feel like going back to my apartment and then back to classes all the time.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 57 million (was 60 million, then 67 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Nintendo should release a NON Portable edition of the console at a cheaper price.

Here's a much better poll: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/05/poll_how_do_you_play_the_nintendo_switch_-_as_a_portable_home_console_or_hybrid

If you own a Switch, in what form do you mostly play it? (7,475 votes)

1. Probably a relatively even split between playing on the TV and in handheld / tabletop mode - 36%
2. As a portable, the majority of the time - 34%
3. On the TV using the dock, the majority of the time - 30%

So Switch is actually more popular as a handheld than it is as a home console, but most popular as a hybrid.

Well, in any case (dumb poll choices or not). I'm not surprised; I mean I love my Switch but yah, I prefer to play it at home with the pro controller. The portability is just an awesome convenience for me (bringing to me every time I took the plane or train).

I mostly play it at home but other times I play it at work during lunch breaks or at relatives/friends house.

Also if it was as powerful as other consoles you wouldn't be able to play it in the toilet...
