The season pass is £18, so let's say that the first DLC is 9£. It took me good 8 hours to finish the Master Trial + about an hour to find all extra gear. Now I'm going through the master mode which, just to defeat Gannon, will take me minimum 20 to 30 hours. I understand that not everyone is into replaying the whole game, but for me it's a steal. Nintendo was very clear on what's in the first DLC and it was very obvious that it's directed to the hardcore BOTW fans (you know, it has "master" name all over the place for the reason).

The first pack is fine for what it is, something to hold us over until the actual story dlc arrives. This is why it is not available for individual purchase (though I feel 4.99 with the main story dlc being 14.99 would have been appropriate).

As others have stated, this dlc is perfect for a second playthrough as it changes things up and adds replay value. I got over 120 hours into BotW and still have a few side quests left and korok seeds all over the place to find (while collecting them all is crazy, it does give you even more reason to explore).

With the game already jam packed with content, saying anything "should have been there from the start" just makes no sense. Just accept it for what it is man. Now if the game was like 15 hours long and they pulled this, then there would be a problem. But over 120? You have recieved more than enough bang for your buck imo. The developers need compensation for their work, so making everything free in a game as big as BotW, while it would be nice, is just a bad business move.

And as for you PS4 DLC comments...Bloodborne Old Hunters says hi.

it looked disappointing from the start.
That's why I didn't buy it. We'll see how things turns out with the second pack, but it doesn't really look better.

We haven't even seen anything in regards to the second pack so we can't really judge it for now.

We know it's a prequel centered on the guardians.

That was like the last thing that was interesting to further explore. They could have made a prequel where you learn more about ganon, or make a new dungeon that follows the end of the game.

We already know plenty about the guardians.

Not really, there is still plenty to see with the Champions.  Also there may be other story elements that go with it, we won't know until we have it.  If it is a prequel it could very easily go into how Ganon came back as well as how he gained control of the guardians.  There is a lot of potential.

If the story expansion would be about how Ganon came back and the war with the Guardians that followed up until the point of the final flashback-scene in the main game where Link is basically killed, then that would be amazing.

Good things do far:
- Korok Mask
- Hero's path
- Trial of swords (but I wished for more savepoints)

This is what I am banking on.  It would cover the whole journey of Link, Zelda, and the Champions during that time period.  This would allow them to reuse the entire world map, but make it feel like a completely different experience and answer a lot of lore related questions.

Think Ocarina of Time's child and adult Link setting, but on a much larger and deeper scale.  If they did that, the second pack alone would be well worth the 20 dollars as a ton of side content would likely be added as well.

You got me excited now, can't wait to see what it'll be, and if it'll be like this.

I agree but the next update is going to be another storyline so this was planned to tide us over until then. They needed to keep the breath of the wild hype up in some way. Let's wait and see what all they add in the new story and how it is implemented.

Modern gamer: I demand DLC for my game. You need to keep releasing material for the game after it's finished.
Developer: Here you go.
Modern gamer: You're charging for this? I don't like it. This should have been available at launch, or given to me for free.

If you don't like the content offered, don't buy it. It's absurd to look at a game the scope of Breath of the Wild and claim that more content should have been available at launch. Would you prefer if Nintendo had gone the route of other developers and worked on DLC first and launched a broken game in the meantime, because they were more focused on making extra $ post launch rather than actually providing a complete base game? (Maybe they should have carved up the game into episodes or shoe-horned micro-transactions in somewhere if that's the case.) I've seen people justify $60 purchase for games with 6 hour story modes. I'm not saying to graciously open your wallet for any morsel thrown at you. I'm just saying, if you don't like something, don't buy it. It's extra content = not necessary unless you want it.
