Modern gamer: I demand DLC for my game. You need to keep releasing material for the game after it's finished.
Developer: Here you go.
Modern gamer: You're charging for this? I don't like it. This should have been available at launch, or given to me for free.

If you don't like the content offered, don't buy it. It's absurd to look at a game the scope of Breath of the Wild and claim that more content should have been available at launch. Would you prefer if Nintendo had gone the route of other developers and worked on DLC first and launched a broken game in the meantime, because they were more focused on making extra $ post launch rather than actually providing a complete base game? (Maybe they should have carved up the game into episodes or shoe-horned micro-transactions in somewhere if that's the case.) I've seen people justify $60 purchase for games with 6 hour story modes. I'm not saying to graciously open your wallet for any morsel thrown at you. I'm just saying, if you don't like something, don't buy it. It's extra content = not necessary unless you want it.
