And so is the XBO S.  How's that working out for it?  Unlike some believe, those features do not make a big seller.  Not when you can get something that does the exact same thing for half the price or less than the console.

From memory the XB1S is doing pretty well. The X1X is for those wanting to also game in 4k while still supplying the 4k features.

You could buy a $500 4k Blu Ray player to compliment your new 4k TV or you could buy a X1X that can play 4k movies, games and acts as your TV box for less than $500.

Choices choices.

Thats the value of the X1X.

You can already find new 4K Blu-ray players for under $200 lol... Best Buy has one for 180$. More specifically the Samsung UBD-K8500.

Looking at the poll the majority of us are on the same page thinking it will be between 5 and 15 million or 10 million as the mean figure. I think lower than at 8 million but 17 million seems overly optimistic to say the least.

Sony's Pro console is trending at 20% of all PS4 sales that are sold.

One would expect the Xbox One X NOT to smash that trend.
Most people expect the Xbox One to finish the generation with 50-60 million consoles which would place the total consoles sold at 5-6 million if it had a similar sell-through rate as the Playstation 4 Pro's 20%.

You said in your last post you don't have to be a gamer. Now that someones brought up the X1X's media features are irrelevant as the XB1S that's half the price has the same features for those people we're back to it being for those that want to play games.

The 4k Bluray is irrelevant as a selling point for the XB1X because it's on the much cheaper XB1S.

The "You could get a 4k Bluray Player for $500 or an XB1X" is an incredibly silly comment... because of the XB1S... and because you can get plenty of 4k Bluray Players for well under $500.

OT: I think XBO X will sell 7-12m not 17m.

too bad MS don't announce their console sales number anymore...

Well fuck numbers, at least we'll know how many 4k bullets where shot off in Call of duty or how many miles of 4k road were driven in Forza 8 or 9 whichever it was, I've lost count. I wonder will they at least give us an idea by providing solid figures for how many 1080p bullets were shot so we can draw some comparisons with their completely pointless numbers?

Hahaha love this! That's great..

^ this.

Im not expecting Xbox One X to do more than 7m by the end of it all.

What I dont get is how DFC intelligence comes to this conclusion?

And who in their right mind buys these "analystical" papers from them for like 5,000$?

It seems like a laughably bad "prediction", and they can apparently charge 5k for it.

Sorry, but if your gonna release a higher quality product, do it in the first half of a consoles life cycle, not the second half. I predict a new xbox within 2 years of release after the x, and the x will not do well because people will just wait until the Xbox Two.

17 million is possible, if there is enough software that is dime's worth as other console exclusives. Practically when it is already two by third down the life cycle for console gen, it seems a bit far fetched. But let's be optimistic.  Meanwhile, Sony should still be relevant with PS4 and/or Pro until then. They would look for an early 2019 announcement for PS5, killing X's scope for a console gamer's worth.

1. My post was about the percentage. I didn't talk how much it is going to sell.

2. I think Microsoft plan is to treat Xbox like a PC when it comes to game development. So in 2020, games will work like this:

Very low - low settings 4K games on Xbox One X

Medium - high settings 4K games on new console.

Xbox One X will be on sale for four extra years (~2024) for people who wants to play Xbox games using a cheap console. It won't stop selling by the launch of its successor.

But... if you think the Xbox one brand will continue into the new console in 2020 do you think that the original X1 model (the version that has things like call of duty ghosts running at 720p) will still be capable of playing some version of the 2020 and beyond software so you would have

I said in another post in this thread that I expect in 2020, it won't be mandatory for games to be playable on Xbox One S.

The new console doesn't have to keep the One name as well. The only connection with One brand is that it has to share the game library with One X for the first few yeara and be 100% BC.

Yes you can however there not TV boxes plus a games console all in one. Premium buyers would want the best options not the cheap options. X1X stands as an incredible deal with its features. 1 box does all.

The point you miss is what market there targeting. Casuals will buy the S however premium buyers would want the package. X1X targets 2 audiences not one like the X1S.

Hardcore gamers will buy the X

Premium buyers will buy the X

Casual gamers will buy the S

Buyers on a budget will buy the S.

17m is doable if marketed right. However 11 to 15 is more likely.
