Microsofts division has never been great, but they have published some great third party games. Before they owned it Gears of War saved their gen last generation. Microsoft seems to be a huge believer that third party should do all of the heavy lifting for them. A lesson that Sony, Nintendo and Sega had to learn doesnt always works.

They have great 1st party games as well.

Gears of War didn't save MS last gen, the 360 had a bunch of notable games and Gears of War. While PS3 was struggling because something at Sony thought PS3 could sell at any price.

Sony is relying heavily on 3rd party as well. Take out the 3rd party developed exclusives and you their library is less impressive.

You've become so anti Xbox you don't even make valid arguments anymore.

Microsoft Most of last gen for Microsofts first party was Halo, Fable and Forza.  Of course Microsoft published Gears back then. Gears was the key IP the 360 needed to keep its brand fresh as Fable was driven into the ground by Peter Molyneux.

Sony relies heavy on third party, but even Phil Spencer knows even if you take out their third party today, Sony still has their number. Their first party is among the top 20 in the industry and much higher on the list than anyone Microsoft has outside of Turn 10.

Microsofts launch with the Xbox One relied on table srcaps from Sony. Sunset Overdrive and Sony failing to close in on Titanfall. Of course they wised up and got the second game though.

Think about it.

Halo, Fable and Forza were the big exclusives last gen, but there was also numerous other notable exclusives whether they were 3rd or 1st party developed. Gears of War sold great but it was just another successful game on a console with many hits. You're exagerating its impact on 360 sales and I believe PS3's failures helped 360 more than Gears ever did.

I feel like the only really notable games Sony has made this gen are Infamous:SS, Uncharted 4 and Horizon. Strong games, but lets not pretend everything Sony is doing is great. They don't look so hot without 3rd parties.

I don't get what you're saying in the third sentence, feel free to elaborate.

Fable and Forza were titles Microsoft made from scratch, Halo as we know it came post acquisition with directional changes, but it was still halo. I had the Xbox 360 and ignored the PS3 because of the ridiculous price. Gears of War was the fresh new IP that kept my loyal to the 360 and over (seven million other people, I am guessing. ). It was a third party exclusive they made a deal for because they wanted to use as a weapon against Sony. The game that was supposed to be Uncharted was supposed to be a fantasy game, but Sony made a creative decision to have Naughty Dog change the game into a third person shooter since the tides were turning. Last gen Microsofts  third party did battle with Sony's first party with Gears vs Uncharted. Sony had no answer for Halo, so their FPS dominance could not be touched (and still cannot). To be honest I am glad Sony quit trying to be like Microsoft with Halo and decided to be themselves. IF they didnt we wouldnt have Hoirzon Zero Dawn, Gravity Rush and so many other titles that popped up between those two periods today.

If you feel the only notable games Sony has come out with are Uncharted and Horizon, then I can understand why you actually think Sonys first party isnt as great as Microsoft. Luckily for the truth, Sonys studios list of games tell the story objectively. Anyone who looks at the situation objectively cannot deny it. Microsofts studios have nothing they could really teach Sony and thats why when Sony had laid off workers from Sony Santamonica, Microsoft was ready to take their table scraps for the coalition (which back before they decided to give up on making a new IP was known as Black Tusk).

Sony is destroying Microsoft in every way that a company possibly can and really...the only thing Microsoft can say is "we have a more powerful console coming, with more controllers." The way Sea of Thieves looks....they really need to push that game back, or else its going to get destroyed.

When will you xbox guys realise that since the original xbox, it's been a failure, with the same emphasis on the same franchises gears and halo, forza being hyped, and failing on generating a solid list of first party titles, which is so inferior when compared to nintendo and Sony. I thought people would have realised towards the end of of xbox 360 not to fall for the same tricks, yet they still support the console through the xbox one, the worst of all time, and will still be there on the Scorpio. No matter how good e3 is, it will just be another hype job.

Because maybe people don't care about first party titles as much as others? There is more to a console than first party games.

I mean, you aren't wrong, 1st party games have always been their weakness, but there is more to a paltform than that.

Microsoft had a sprinkling of other titles during the Xbox 360's life.

Early on we had Kameo and Perfect Dark, Halo 3 put the Xbox 360 on the map and showed it to be a real juggernaut.
That was followed up with Banjo-Kazooie, Forza, Fable, Blue Dragon, Crackdown, Saints Row... And had a few timed exclusives like Ass Effect, Ninja Gaiden 2, Alan Wake, The Last Remnant and more.
Can't forget some other notables like Naruto: Rise of a Ninja and The Broken Bond which are some of my personal favorites.

Microsoft eroded Sony's exclusive and 3rd party advantage last generation, that can't be denied.
Even games like Final Fantasy arrived on the Xbox console... And if you remember, people wen't spastic over that.

Compare that to the original Xbox which leveraged PC development (I.E. The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Doom, Half Life 2 etc'.) for a large chunk of it's Library... The Xbox 360 was a night and day difference.

That was in stark contrast to Sony where the Playstation 3 had Multiplats which often had inferior graphics, inferior performance.
Although Sony has certainly turned that around this generation, so props to them.

I'll give it to you that Microsoft erroded Sonys third party exclusivity. Thankfully they did, because look at Sony today. The difference cannot even be denied by spencer. He admitted the other day that when talking about tomb raiders timed exclusivity that they tried to make a competitor to Uncharted but could not and so they did what they had to do with Tomb Raider to compete. Sonys first party was always better than Microsofts and they kept growing stronger with every generation. Microsofts is still trying to figure out where it stands. They still lack identity. They'll take any game from anyone at this rate. Spencer also conceded the issues with Single player games...which is telling about how the games sell on their platform. I think its not just sales but a quality control issue that Microsoft has always had. Ill agree with you that Microsofts existence with the 360 was night and day different than the xbox one, but honestly, Listing Rare games didnt stop rare from losing respect as a developer while under Microsoft. They will need a miracle to get back in everyones graces. I mean Guerilla game never fell as far as Rare, but today they are one of the top Studios now after the Killzone series fell.

Last few years were alright for Microsoft, nothing special imo. Doubt that it will be different this year.

Okay, you're projecting your interest in Gears on all 360 users. It was popular but it didn't save the system, again it was a popular game on platform with a lot of popular games.

If you feel I'm downplaying Sony's 1st party lineup, perhaps people are doing the same for Xbox? I named the titles that are truly notable.

I don't understand what you mean by, "table scraps." Do you mean talent?

Eh... Sony hasn't stopped MS from making notable games and acquiring a fairly significant audience. So no, Sony is not destroying them in every way possible. And quite frankly, that's a good thing. Competition makes Sony better.

Their press conference for E3 is on a sunday, Sony's on monday. So Sony has the upper hand again, and can change specifics in their presentations based on Microsofts. Again.

I don't think they can change their presentation in less than a day

That it will make the original Xbox look like a 3ds.That's right, I went there.

So it's actually gonna have games besides Madden of Call of Duty?

I mean the Xbox gets almost everything ps4 does (besides Japanese games) so it's always had more games than madden and CoD :P
