Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch online priced at 2000-3000 yen yearly ($17.50 - $26.50 USD)

What do you guys think? Too low? Too high?

I'm a little apprehensive myself as a low price almost guarantees the service won't be on par with PS+ or XBL, but I suppose we'll see.

The smart phone app already told us it wont be on par with PS+ and XBL.

I guess in that regard yes, but I was also thinking in terms of consistent sales, free MP weekends, free games, etc.

Called it, NOW we can start speculating on the value of the online, tbh given they give us rental NES/SNES games the online quality could be on-par with that of other system, it really depends on how much Nintendo wants to bank on the online service...

It's a fairly accessible price but it does raise some concerns about the quality of the online.

Well that's not such a bad price at all. Hopefully it will still have decent features.
I mean, the Wii U service was by no means great but for a free service I quite enjoyed it.

So realistically if they're charging anything at all it has to be a decent step up from there (at least I hope so o.O), so let's hope it's alright!

Huh, thats cheap. Now I can safely plan to get splatoon2

Probably be £20 a year then in the UK. I'm ok with that price

I'm surprised at how cheap it turned out to be. That's like 2'30 bucks per month aproximatedly, right?

It'll probably mean there won't go much effort to create an online ecosystem, at all, but at least there's not a monetary fee that would scare most people.

That's really low and seeing how they wanna shove in the phone to do some of the heavy lifting, I'm not totally on the same page. I assume that's not nearly enough revenue to get some real high caliber network but Nintendo aren't exactly online multiplayer juggernauts (aside from Mario Kart, Smash and splatoon) and even two of those are best on local.

Time will tell, hopefully it does the basic but it does it well.
