Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS4 to sell 72,000,000 by end of 2017

So the PS4 sales seems to have plateaud last year, being only up 100k from 2015 despite 2 new SKUs. PS4 sold 17.5M units in 2016, up from 17.4M in 2015. Still impressive, considering Wii started its decline in the 3rd year.

2013: 4.2M
2014: 14.3M
2015: 17.4M
2016: 17.5M

I think 2017 could be PS4's peak year, there's potential with the amazing software line up, with multiple heavy hitters among them (RDR2, GTS, Destiny 2, BF2, FF7R:PI?).

The PS4 will see sub $199 price tags this year, I see $179 or even lower around Black Friday. The Pro should see $299. The cheaper price will see most benefits in other parts of the world where the impact will be bigger.

Sony will also be focusing a lot more on the US this year because the new Xbox marketing clearly affected them and put them down YoY.

It should be at 70 million at least at the end of 2017, Playstation consoles aren't known to plummet in sales anyway.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I don't see how anyone could argue with that? Hardware will get cheaper, the best line-up since launch is comming, and major firware and services updates will only broaden the appeal of the whole package. Sales should be up, but I still don't think this will be the peak.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

I think it will heavily depend on the bundling strategy.
They should have Horizon-> Crash -> RDR2 -> COD -> BF2 bundles.
I think heavy bundling is very important after reaching affordable prices.

72M is not impossible with strong exclusives and bundles. I think 70M would be the safe bet here but I can also see 72M happening at the end of 2017.

It's Merica I'm worried about, their marketing sucked last year. Being down in Merica affects worldwide figures.

If they bring their A game.... they could probably manage that.
I think 2017 is the PS4's peak.
The question is how much over 17.5m is it going to sell this year? I think its over 18.5m.

Quite reasonable. That's why this thread will only garner moderate attention. :) Needs more flame. And bait.

Yeah I definitely think 70m+. Good prediction.
