Forums - Nintendo Discussion - [New Poll] Will you buy multiplatform games on Switch or PS4/XBO/PC?

Will you buy multiplats on Switch or PS4/XBO/PC if you own both systems?

Switch 270 37.04%

PS4/XBO/PC 331 45.40%

Won't own a Switch 109 14.95%

Won't own a PS4/XBO/PC 19 2.61%

Total:729

If Switch gets big 3rd party releases, probably on that actually. Switch might finally realise what I loved so much shit the first 2 years of Vita.

Need for Speed Most Wanted on Vita is still the most mind blowing having experience of 2012 for me. If Switch can continue that, I'm all for it!

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

We don't know this yet, but assuming just because it may play PS4/Xbone/PC games, that does not mean Nintablet is on par with those systems. So no, I won't own a Nintablet for multiplat games.

CPU: Ryzen 7950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

Depends. If online gaming on Switch is free, it's that platform all the way for me! Except for Civilization, Bethesda games and some other stuff, because I like mods. If Nitnendo charges for online, I'll keep playing multiplats on PC.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Switch is fine. NX is just nonsense letter's and would have never been a considered name for a successful consumer product.

Wii is also kind of nonsense. DS has a meaning, but nobody in the mainstream market probably really knows it. Switch looks lazy and does not sound good. Nintendo usually gets naming right (Wii, Gamecube, N64, Gameboy),  but they also have a lot of poor showings such as Super Nintendo (come on, it would just be worse if N64 was called Hyper Nintendo), 3DS and Wii U. Switch lacks personality, it lacks imagination.

NX isn't a superb name, but at least it kinda sticks. N for Nintendo, X is usually associated with misterious or advanced products. It's not that bad.

Being a bit off-topic: as far as naming goes, Nintendo gets it right more often than not. I won't count Famicom since it's Japan only, even if it was pretty bad. Gameboy was their absolute best. It's really, really good. I'm still pissed they replaced it with DS.

Sony just invented one single awesome name and keep using it. The only time they screwed up was with the Vita. PlayStation Vita. Like, in "life"? Why? Is it supposed to make everyone feel alive or something? It doesn't make any sense, it's just a random latin word. The rest lacks imagination, but at least PlayStations sounds pretty cool. PS4 Pro is a bit lame.

MS normally has terrible ideas. Xbox isn't a good name (it came from DirectXbox, so it could be worse). So, they made a console, it looked like a box and had an "X" slapped on it, I get it. Xbox 360 is a lot of nonsense. Why 360? If it's because of the circle used in the console, it basically is a reminder of the biggest problems they had in the begining. Xbox One reaches a new level of nonsense since now we have to refer to Xbox 1 as OG Xbox or something like that. They are the naming successor of Atari (2600, 5200, 7800 really? Jaguar at least is kinda cool).

Sega had some great names such as Master System, Genesis, Mega Drive, Game Gear and their top 1 Dreamcast. But they also had Saturn, 32X and Sega CD.

Of course, I'm not saying that anyone of these consoles with stupid names are bad. Most are great. And of course, some of them only had good names but were indeed crappy.

Wii sounds like We. DS was assumed to mean "double screen." Even if no one knew what it really meant, I communicated what it really was fine. Neither of them were nonsense. NX is. NX as a group of letters communicates absolutely nothing. Switch is fine. It's recognizable and easy to remember. "The Switch" rolls off the tongue.

I would buy them on switch as long as the performance is not bad.

I'd be very surprised if Switch had you pay for online. They have a big edge with that.

No. Most people who have the switch will look elsewhere to play multiplatform games. Nintendo even admitted that the Wii U  was a secondary console. I was talking about the overall outcome not the individual decision. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

This thread is specifically about VGC user preferences. Mainstream consumers have historically chosen convenience over power. All the Switch needs is to be powerful enough to run Gen 8 games at a mainstream-accepted clip. Don't underestimate the amount of people who will chose portability over graphical bells and whistles.

are there examples of multiplat games that did better on their portable counterparts than PC/console?

OT nope. I doubt they will run as well as the other consoles and then if its a heavily multiplayer game, I dont want to play in a ghost town.

On the Switch, not only you can play on the go but in whatever position you like, I sometimes have back problems and stop playing because it starts hurting me, with WiiU it was easy to play in whatever position when that happens and so it will be with Switch, but this time everywhere you want, and also looks like games will look great on that screen.

Also, that poll is hardly representative, what do you think the hater comunity with no intentions of ever getting a Nintendo console is voting? At least give a third option with "I don't give a ..."

If the 'haters' have 'no intentions of ever getting a Nintendo console' then their votes for the PS4/X1/PC are accurate, no?

Regardless, Nintendo fans are the largest demographic on this site. The poll actually made that pretty clear. The Switch was going up against 3 separate platforms combined as one in the poll, will likley run the overwhelming majority multi-platform titles worse than its competitors, and yet as of a few minutes before spemanig changed the poll it'd still managed 36% of the vote. The Switch does have its own advantages, but few that would pull in non-Nintendo fans in this specific instance. I agree more options were needed (and i'm glad spemanig has added some), but the bolded is still a tad silly.

They are? This is new information for me, as I would think the PlayStation community was the largest. Either way, your points are clear that the poll is fair and there are no "haters".

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

There's never been a portable to get multiplats to the degree that Switch possibly will.

No reason to believe that multiplayer games will be empty.

I think the difference in performance between the Switch and XBO will be similar to the difference between the XBO and PS4, so yeah, I agree.
