Has there been a lot of crime involving people in full-face veils? I know someone else mentioned that other forms of full-face coverage are banned, is that the case in Germany? Because if so then yeah, I agree it should be banned. I've never been fully comfortable for religons getting excemptions that the rest of us don't get (laws, taxes, ect.)

Can't tell you. I know that I hear so often of muslim men doing something in Europe. No idea if the women wearing these veils are though, or if it's just a precaution or making it fall in line with other rules in the country.

But either way, it doesn't sound like this infringes on a religion at all anyway. The full face veil apparantly is not a requirement according to other users posting in this topic.

That's because there is no such thing called Islam. There are IslamS, however, and each Islam is followed by hundreds of millions, validating every practice in the eyes' of the followers of each one of those Islams, including wearing a stupid mask. As a result, it is a requirement for a good chunk people, cue the outcry.

Sorry German kids, no more

You can see the cheeks/nose/eyes,eyebrows/forehead.... thats not a full-face veil.

Also you might laugh at this but alot of theives/burglers dress up as santa when they rob people (that time of year), its actually a decent disguise.

Indeed, probably a lot more than dressed in Burqas. Better to ban Santa, arrest him on the spot.
Motorcycle helmets are suspicious too, ban em, and halloween or Fasching since were talking about Germany.

I don't mind dress codes in schools, nor court. Yet in everyday life the government should stay out of what you wear.

Burka

Niqab

Unfortunate and unpleasant but probably necessary.

Covering your face is a fundamental barrier to integration into a culture. You can't get to know people or make friends anywhere near the same amount.

I remember trying to talk to a girl in the full body bag thing before once. She was normal and nice enough. Then when she left, it suddenly dawned on me that I would be completely incapable of recognizing her again in the future. What are you gonna do? Just go round asking everyone until you get the right voice?

all the things you listed and will list in the future are examples of people masking their face at home or for a few special occassions, but hyper orthodox muslim women are supposed to wear their face veils _every_time_they_leave_the_house_ - that's the difference and why it's a problem to our society (and yes, I have already seen a few women with full Chador/Niqap-dress here in Germany)

Lol. Merkel won't do any of that and it wouldn't make a difference even if she did.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Sure, I'm having fun with it. Yet I do think reform doesn't start by outlawing certain dress codes. At leat they are coming out of the house! The result of this could easily backfire and you condem these women to be stuck inside for the rest of their lives...

Start with schools, teach kids the values of freedom of expression.

As a former muslim I can say the Burka or Niqab have no religious foundation.

A hijab is more then fine

Seriously? That's interesting.

Unfortunately she will probably retain power because.... I have no idea why.

Because of Alternativlosigkeit. The dudes from SPD are a complete joke, the guys from AfD are Nazis in disguise, seriously, who could you possibly elect next year? The choice had never been any worse. I know my cross will hit Die PARTEI once again, but they have no chance at all to get to 5 % even remotely close.

I want Schröder back. What that guy did is essentially what put Germany in such a good condition today. Agenda 2010 did the trick to transform the former "sick man of europe" to the most powerful nation in the continent with nearly every other nation looking with envy at us. But oh well, I think Merkel also did something... like, uh... I don't know... There's bound to be something... =P
