Forums - Gaming Discussion - Switch specs Rumor

so correct me if im wrong, but it looks like it will be like half as powerful as XB1/ps4, while coming out 4 years later?

also, is switch the successor to the WiiU? is it a home console (and portable)?

I'm just saying that if the rumors are true it would be strange for Nintendo to add that feature when they won't be making money from it.

They just CAN'T make money from it. It's impossible and nobody can do it, plain and simple. You can't offer 4G plans woldwide, and even less when you're not a telecom company. The best thing they can do is negotiate with specific companies in each country to launch some special 4G plans, but that's it.

The Vita did that before the Switch, so it's not that surprising. (The 3G Vita failed and was quickly discontinued though...)

Thanks for posting this, but yeah launching a video game console is one thing, but to suggest that the company should roll out world wide 4g internet to "make money" from the sim card port on that system is indeed not unlike suggesting they profit from the sale of electricity to the machines or go into production of TVs with which to view the content on.

Jason1637 all consoles since the original Xbox have featured an Ethernet port on them, no console manufacturer has ever offered a global broadband service to download data from the service they provide, heck even the biggest mobile data providers on the planet do not have a global network they simply offer roaming onto other companies networks around the globe, if Nintendo could successfully offer 4g globally with unlimited data they could quite easily never look to video games to earn another Yen... ever and be profitable from that.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Edit: nevermind, sorry

it still is a portable, you really expecting a portable with xbox one/ps4 power and 1080p screen that cost only 250$?

Battery life is better than before, but still not that great.

The battery level is PSP level... don't know what to think about it. I mean we got used with Sony devices that had mediocre battery life but it seems that Nintendo is going down that route as well (Its already obvious with my 3DSXL). Power wise I love the rumored specs. Nintendo internal teams will do wonders with it

The battery life is going to be low when gaming. The thing is 1/2 the power of the Xbox One, there is no miracle tech coming to provide it with 10hours battery life.

Yes there is. A larger battery.

Its a 500gflop, fan cooled tablet. In 2016 you're not getting a consumer battery, which fits into that shell and is going to give you 10hours peak performance.

Charge cases and quick chargers are everywhere now though.

Console runs low on battery, use quick charger to recharge, continue playing while charger recharges, rinse and repeat.

Yep, they sell nice 20000mAh bricks power banks with 5 or more USB sockets, enough to give extended power to tablet, smartphone and portable console, and even digital camera, if it has USB recharging (my cheap old one hasn't, but it runs on common AA batteries, I use rechargeable ones and always carry at least one spare set of fully charged ones besides those in the camera).

Not stellar, but not as bad as I had feared.

I would be quite disapointed with these battery life, it's pretty subpar compared to current handhelds.
