Imagine what that would do when the PS3 after being on the market for about 4 and a half years reduces its console to be eventually at the magical $199 mark. With the soon death of standard TV's expected within two to three years time and the growing markets of both HDTV's and Blu-ray players on the rise. The PS3 in 2011 with an install base of between 50 to 60 million consoles world wide, imagine what a price tag of under $200 would do? Expect it to launch up in sales and eventually reach the mark of 100 million console sale in 2013. As soon as PS3 goes past the 100 million mark like previous generations then the next PS will be launched.

Three years time is a long way off, with over 100 million seller games  to be available on the PS3. A bright  future lays ahead of our beloved Sony PS3. I expect a slimline PS3 to be available mass market within two to three years time.

So what do you people feel about this prediction? 

200 just in 2011? that's way too late imo..

Damn I guess it might reach that $200 mark a lot earlier say late 2009 or 2010.

Quite frankly 2011 is very late...it would make sense to hit that price but around late 2009...that would be the best possible move, but seems too rushed still

I would say in 2010 it can reach $200 mark. It will be down to $300 by the end of this year (£225) and then it will decrease a little bit in 09 (at GT 5 launch) before another cut at the start of 2010 (in time for FF XIII! (probably versus))

 Sony is competing against the XBox 360 for the HD gaming console title holder. Price wise the PS3 can not compete with the much cheaper Nintendo Wii. Sony is doing well against the XBox 360 which is closer to the price of the PS3. The gap between PS3 and Xbox 360 is closing rapidly. Bear in mind the XBox 360 was launched 12 months before the PS3.

yeah I agree; i think ps3 will drop to 199$ late 2008 with christmas

 late 2009 you mean? Before Xmas this year the PS3 will  drop to $299.
