Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Slim release sees UK Xbox One hardware sales rocket 1,000%

these numbers will go down shortly its understandable tbh. i believe sony kept ps4 slim price the same as currently as theres now massive scope for price drops in future

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

But the PS4 Japan sales rocketed 17,000 % (or something like this) when the Slim released, so which one is doomed? Or do pourcentages mean nothing without real numbers? I'm lost :/

Lol.  you realise that post doesn't have to be taken literally?

No not really, i just dont really think we need to make this into that type of thread.

Make it into what type of thread? Are only literally comments and with no alternative meaning not allowed in here?  I don't get what's the big deal here.

That wasn't  even fire sale (^_^;)

I think fire sale's short  effect isn't worth for praise and  discussion.

Let's see UK monthly hardware sales.

Doesn't count. When speaking of console wars, only the US and UK count, for some reason.

(note: I'm not saying this thread is straying too far into that, only that the article op quoted does a little too much console comparison. It's a shame, really, it seems like neither console can have a good week save in relation to how the other performs)

I'm going to guess that the almost 100K the PS4 sold in Japan during the Slim launch is more than twice what the XBO sold in the UK on the week of the S launch. In both cases it seems the week prior were just really low thanks to people holding off for the new models, so we have to wait and see if there is a continued rise in sales. I know the 2nd week in Japan was a nice surprise for PS4 sales.

@ OP

My guess for the PS4 being down is a lot of people are just going to wait to buy the Pro. The price is so close to the Slim that there's really little to no reason not to upgrade.

I knew the XB1S would sell well but I'll just wait for the actual numbers to come out for this time period.

989% sounds great, but trying to do the math and just seems somewhat off, or they're trying to spin this in a way that it sounds a lot better than it actually does since they're not giving any real numbers.

Can someone explain what "sales rise 989 per cent week-on-week" mean? Does that mean a total of 989 per cent increase from a span of like +2 weeks? Like 500% one week than 498% the next?

Ah just give me real numbers! xD

I made a large post about it but it just means that the sales one week are 11x the number the previous week, but that is to be expected when a hardware revision like the X1S is being launched, it would be stupid for someone to have bought the old model the previous week unless you knew literally nothing about gaming since you are paying the same money for less so obviously the people who would have naturally been buying X1 units for the last number of weeks would have been on the decline in anticipation of the X1S and as such the big jump doesn't mean it is up 1000% above the baseline of X1 sales, more so means it has jumped up 1000% from the previous week when only derps would have bought the console.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Very Nice!

Pocky Lover Boy!

PS4's slower sales definitely chalked up to be because of PS4 Pro's imminent release. PS4 Slim wasn't designed to change PS4 or recreate the market; just to be the standard model to carry on the sales where the OG model is leaving off. Still excited to see how the Pro will do WW.

People should also take into account that they're still not giving solid numbers. We got solid numbers when PS4 Slim killed it in JP sales. Here, they're just giving percentages that changed from one week to another. How do we know that the week prior the XB1 sold anymore than 100 consoles? in which case it would only be up to 1100-ish. We know those specific numbers obviously not the case here, but it's easy to take stats and twist them in a way to paint a different picture from the truth is the point.

Good for Microsoft but I wonder how were the numbers of the week before the boost.
