Wasn't their rumors or patent of Removal buttons?

I think a couple of posters at NeoGaf might've cracked this thing ... what if the "controller" wings are using the Sharp Free Form LCD technology?

I mean we just assumed the screen would be in the middle and the controller sides would be plastic, but imagine an NX where the whole face of the screen is an LCD, the wings just have an analog stick + d-pad or buttons on them, but still surrounded by an LCD.

Then when you detach the controllers and use them horizontally (NES/SNES pad style) the LCD underneath the d-pad could show B/A/X/Y buttons, but when it's connected back to the system that could go away, as the LCD can display whatever it wants underneath the (transparent?) buttons.

This could also explain the mystery of what Nintendo is using the free form LCD display for since they did definitely sign a deal with Sharp to use that tech (not just a patent).

You/they are forgetting that there will be bezels, that we don't know if that freeform screen from Sharp can work with haptic tech and, most important of all, that idea sounds mighty expensive not just for the console itself, but also for any aditional controllers.

Don't get too carried away.

Another source told me it had an awesome crispy function. Waiting for confirmation on the toaster SCD add-on.

If this is actually being seriously discussed I think Nintendo's torturous approach to keeping the Nx in our minds is working.

I'm gonna have to whip something up myself... perhaps it comes with a built-in selfie stick?

Remember to make a nice drawing to go with it.

Since they went the Sony angle, go with Microsoft now and try copy the Kinect.
Nintendo even has some patents regarding this, so it could work!

How curious, we get a new rumor about the NX that doesn't come from Emily Rogers and now she makes a new blog post where she lists all the details she knows. And of course, she knew about the new d-pad, but somehow she didn't thought it was important enough to share it.

https://arcadegirl64.wordpress.com/2016/08/31/recap-of-nx-hardware-details/

Here’s a recap of NX Hardware details

  • In May, I said Nvidia was involved with the system. (Source)
  • The screen is around 6 inches (6.2 to be specific)
  • The portable screen has a 720p resolution.
  • Multi-touch touchscreen (Haven’t heard anything about a stylus.)
  • 32 GB of internal storage is on the NX dev kit.  (They may increase storage to 64GB for the final retail unit, but I doubt it.)
  • There is an SD Card port.
  • Dock Station has at least 2 USB ports on prototype.  Not sure about final product.
  • NX will support Unreal Engine 4 and Unity engine
  • NX is below Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in raw power.
  • Dev kits and prototypes are region free. I heard retail units will be region free too.

She also mentions that there are "conflicting reports" on where the right analog stick is

How the f*ck can be "conflicting reports" about the position of the analog stick?! This is so ridiculous...

Oh, well, at least her drawings are better XD. Oh, well, at least her edits to Eurogamer's drawings are better XD.

Lets play Video games also has a new Report detailing the devkits dimensions and port locations.

http://letsplayvideogames.com/2016/08/report-nx-handheld-dimensions-layout-info-lack-of-region-lock/#comment-1082

Appearently the devkit is 205x92x25 mm without controllers and 281x91x25 with them. The controllers attach to the device kind of like the old Apply lightning cable used to, with little hooks securing the connector.
They also state no region lock.

Edit: Those dimensions seem very wierd to me. with these Dimensions the NX with controllers attached would be bigger than the WiiU Gamepad in every dimension except for height.

In fact the version without the Controllers would have an additional 3 cm on each side of the sceen that seemingly get used for nothing (This is nt shown in any of the schemtic pictures we've seen so far).

Alternatively the screen is roughly 8x19 cm wich seems like a wierd size to me. I know it's supposed to be a dev kit, so it might not represent the final product in any way, but I find it curuois nonetheless.

It's not her drawing, it's the same one from Eurogamer. She's just piggybacking off a rumor that's piggybacking off of the Eurogamer rumor, so I wouldn't pay them any mind.

So I can't even give her credit for that, wow. I hope she got the permission of Eurogamer to use them.

How credible is this site? I've never heard of them before, and their poor drawings certainly don't help things lel.

As for the size they're touting, it is quite close to the 3DS XL which has dimensions of 156 mm wide x 93 mm high x 22 mm thick, but even without controllers attached it's still significantly wider, probably too much so to fit in your pocket, and definitely too much with the controllers attached. The reason for that extra width despite the same height and thickness can only be that 6.2 inch screen. It alone is almost the size of a 3DS XL, so they gotta increase how wide it is so there's space for the buttons. I strongly believe such a screen size isn't worth the loss of portability, so I'm hoping this isn't true.

Region free is the highlight for me, that would be AMAZING.
