Forums - Gaming Discussion - 37% of XB1 S 2TB sales were funded with trade-ins

Gamestop says it expects similar numbers for the 1 TB model.

Seems like a pretty big number, especially considering that's just at GameStop. Wonder how many new buyers there actually were.

Also will be interesting to see trade in rate for Neo. I expect it to be higher.

Well, thats kinda expected. Its an upgrade and its the premium version, usually destined to more hardcore fans. When the cheaper version hits shelves, the number of trade-ins should be lower.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

A lot lower than i expected. 63% of new buyers is still really good.

Who wouldn't trade in their old love for a new younger piece, if they could? Some can't afford to have more than one at a time. In my situation, I can manage more than one at a time. 😘

This will just cause a dip in XB1 sales as cheap second hand Xbox ones flood the market.

Yes, that's exactly what I said in the Amazon thread ...

I'm watching you.

The PS5 Exists.

Seems like a good result for Microsoft.

Is 37% high? I guess it depend on the overall boost in sales. If Xb one S sales is only a 50-75% boost on ogXb one sales then 37% is quite big. But if S sales are 150%-200% above og sales then 37% is not all that high.

37% were just people upgrading? That's a pretty big number, I thought the UHD drove would attract more new users than that.

Those numbers seem fair. I was expecting higher numbers. Plus I don't think this includes the 500GB model. Most of their new sales will come from there.
