I've had the same issue today, but I guess it's not surprising anymore at this point. The ads on this site have been getting more intrusive for a long time.

For me, the ad only appears on threads and not the home page.

Adblock. In Android, you could either root your device and install a system-wide Adblock (no ads in browsers and apps anymore) or simply use Firefox for Android with the Adblock Plus extension installed.
