Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Says It’s Looking To Appeal To Both Causal And Core Gamers With NX

For Nintendo, it's not about trying to appeal to one of these group or another (or both). Nintendo's marketing skills are far too weak to properly identify and target these groups, anyways. Nintendo's job is to create something that is amazingly fun and to not worry about whether it will win back the Xbox One Scorpio crowd or Soccer Moms. Nintendo, at its best, defies the boundaries of any demographic group and that's why we love Nintendo: they have this unique ability to bring people together. Let the NX hardware be something that is highly accessible to everyone and then let Nintendo throw everything they have at creating the most unique and enjoyable games that they can think of without constraining themselves to any specific group. The Wii U was the perfect example of what happens when Nintendo limits and constrains their own creativity (ie. forcing the gamepad into everything), I hope that the NX is the opposite of the Wii U in that regard.

Except ... it basically sounds like the Wii U. Just without the console part because mobile chip tech has advanced now to the point where the chip can be put inside the tablet.

It's not like games like Nintendo Land and NSMBU and Wii Party U and Mario Kart 8 aren't highly accessible to everyone either. Even Mario 3D World is far easier to play than Mario Galaxy.

Good luck.

Like they did with the Wii U? Heard this song and dance before. Show us Nintendo.

"Say what you want about Americans but we understand Capitalism. You buy yourself a product and you Get What You Pay For."

- Max Payne 3

They said the same thing with the Wii U. Wether it actually does is a different story.

The thing that makes me laugh is Nintendo's obsession with being "mom approved".

Is "mom" really likely to buy an NX if she has a smartphone that can already play games that she carries with her 24/7? Is she going to start carrying around a tablet sized NX to play video games on?

Like really, Nintendo, who gives a fuck what "mom" thinks.

Isnt this what they said about the Wii U too? It's kind of a non-answer

Not sure I like the sound of that. The casual crowd has more or less moved largely onto mobile gaming and that market size simply dwarfs Nintendo in terms of size and profit, they should just give up trying to take the super easy to appeal to crowd and go for their dedicated core base that are always there nearly every gen.

All I want is a console from them that isn't designed to pander to the casual crowd and geared more towards something I actually want to own, I want a plethora of titles that greatly outweigh the number made for the casual crowd, I don't want another Wii because that console was one I stayed far away from last gen. Aim for me and you'll get my money, aim for the crowd that easily drops you like a hat and pander to them more than me and I'll stay away from your system and give my money to someone else who panders to my interests.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

Idiots hear that Nintendo only want to appeal to casual gamers

Fans from other platforms are asking how Nintendo is going to appeal to both markets and release enough software to keep both audiences entertained.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Isn't that exactly what they said about the Wii U?

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
