Superman is set to fly solo again in upcoming “Man of Steel” sequel for DC Entertainment

  • Warner Bros. Put Man of Steel Sequel into active development.
  • Henry Cavill's Superman will fly solo again.
  • Superman is a top priority for the studio and getting the character right for audiences is of tantamount importance.

The “Man of Steel” sequel is a long way from getting a release date. ‘”Wonder Woman” is slated for June 2, 2017, followed by “Justice League” on Nov. 17, 2017. “Aquaman” is currently slated for July 27, 2018. A standalone “Batman” film does not yet have a date, but will likely come before the Superman sequel, the person familiar with the project said.

Warner Bros. has two untitled DC films to be released on Oct. 5, 2018 and Nov. 1, 2019, but hasn’t said what they will be.

To finally give Superman his own film to build on his character after we got the underwhelming BvS, we're finally getting the Man of Steel sequel.

What villain do you want to see in the sequel?

Do you want a new director?

Should Goyer be involved in the sequel?

I just hope they ignore the idiots whining about collateral damage. I guess Superman was supposed to gingerly fight zod by tip toeing around buildings and such.

And Zod was supposed to care and avoid hurting people.  Oh and Superman was supposed to try to lure away a guy who had just given a speech about wanting to exterminate all humans, thus leaving him alone with said humans and *hoping* he followed.

Glad to see this, liked Man of Steel.  Henry is a good Superman, hopefully this film keeps the good and polishes the rough edges.  But these DC films coming out out of sequence is very weird.

Who the hell actually thinks about collateral damage?

It's a superhero film. It's not a complicated piece of art with plot twists lurking in every corner. They blast stuff up and beat each other to the death. That's really it.

Yes they have back stories but the original superhero comics never mentioned collateral damage.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

well the hardcore fans are basing it on the fact that traditionally in the comics (and outside of them) Superman has been OCD about not hurting civlians and even doing things like rescuing cats or helping old women across the street. so for him to possibly be part of the cause (granted during a fight) of thousands of deaths frustrates people who think its not true to the character

I do agree with you for the most part though, its not as if Superman had much of a choice regarding dealing with Zod and/or being thrown into buildings by Zod

But Superman has caused colateral damage in the animations and comics when fighting big enough enemies.  He punched Darkseid *through* several skyscrapers and his fight with Doomsday didn't leave the city unscathed.  And not only has he killed villains before, he actually has some he actually wants to kill, such as Darkseid.  People's memories are just selective :P

Good. Man of Steel was a flawed movie, but it tried it's best. It's problem was the writing behind it.

One complaint that I neve got about Man of Steel was Superman not smiling. Superman in the animated series is a serious character. I want more colour though.

Edit: Source is elmayimbe. Don't get your hopes high.

Yay... more emo, brooding, flawed and internally confused Superman movies!

The only collateral damage I cared about in the film was the story and characters that were all butchered thanks to Snyder trying to turn every film he touches into Watchmen.

He turned Supes into an emo.

The Jor-el scenes in the spaceship were horrendous. Not sure what direction Snyder gave other than look bored out of your face and make everything monotonous.

I can go on and on about how crappy the plot was. I'm just hoping the next Supes film is in colour, they've finally decided if Kryptonite etc is good or bad for Supes and they being back the John Williams OST.
