Its at slightly over $675 million world wide now I'm guessing it will only need two more weeks maximum to pass $700 million world wide now. Also it making at least slightly more then Guardians of the Galaxy domestically is pretty much guaranteed now too.

The fact that this movie opened $40M higher than GotG, yet looks like it may have to crawl it's way to the same $333M, with a chance that it doesn't make it, tells you all you need to know about the film.  And GotG didn't even have to shoehorn in cameos from Iron Man or Captain America to try and get more butts in the seats.  Given it's crazy marketing budget, and the fact that this movie has to make $750 to break even, this is nothing short of a disappointment for DC and WB.

Yeah, I don't think it needs $750M to break even. The movie features unknown characters like Guardians and is not getting a China release. I'd say it's as successful as Guardians at this point.

It will make it I don't think it will be a big struggle to get there it will stay in the top 10 domestically until the end of September.

Guardians made $96 million in China if you subtract that from it total box office the two movies are almost even at this point.

The quiet end of Summer movie releases saved it. Probably will make 20-30 million more than it was going to thanks to a dismal August, which is continuing into September.

I had earlier posted it'd have legs  and it is indeed proving the same.

"this movie has to make $750 to break even, this is nothing short of a disappointment for DC and WB."  Where are you getting these facts from? As per all the main sources, movie had already broke even couple of weeks ago. It's in the profit making phase and already deemed a big hit of the summer.

"shoehorn in cameos from Iron Man or Captain America to try and get more butts in the seats. " Looks like they are running out of steam now. They are relentlessly boring now without cameos. That is why they are trying to include Guardians in Avengers 3.

They will be probably much more happy about Suicide Squad numbers as about BvS numbers. Not sure what the guys at Warner believed Suicide Squad will make (internal, not what they may tell the press) but without a Chinese release I doubt they expected numbers much higher as it will eventually do. Maybe more but not that much more. I think it will do ok.

BvS on the other hand is something I think they expected way more until they realised the movie will be probably not that good when finished.

So yeah, Suicide Squad doesn't get really good scores from audience nor critics but for that it really does ok and will do also fine financially. It just doesn't make them a huge profit.

Links? We already know the budget was $175M.  So to break even they would have to have made $350M+, which they have.  However, that doesn't include the huge marketing budget.  They pushed this movie HARD.  Probably even harder than BvsS.  That's where the remaining $200M estimate comes in, which means an additional $400M+ to break even, overall.  Maybe the insider's estimates are off and it broke even at $650M-$700M.

Either way, the movie was a disappointment, financially speaking.  BvsS even more so.  WB wants its own MCU.  However, their DCCU comes off as rushed, with little respect for the characters the movies are based on.  Story elements and arcs that should have come later and made a HUGE impact are just being shoehorned into bit parts in their films.  The lack of legs shows the quality just isn't up to par with the MCU.

Oh, and you mean Avengers 3?  The same one that is a huge two part film that includes the entire MCU against Thanos?  Yea, no idea why they would be involving the GotG in that one. /s

I think they are both going to be internally seen as disappointments, as they will make them money, but nowhere near the money the MCU makes Disney.  But, you are right, BvsS will been seen as a much larger one.  It had two of the largest comic book characters together onscreen, battling each other and then joining forces, yet made almost $300M less than Captain America.  Even worse when you consider that the last Batman film made $1B WW with just Batman in it.

Well I was already including the marketing budget while I replied. It comes to an estimate of  $275 to $300 M with taxes, rebates and incentives included.  No one would be able to post real figures but estimates on the marketing. Only the studio keeps the real numbers and the production budget is made official, unless they decide not to reveal. BO mojo is a reliable source for the figures on production budget

The movie wasn't a financial disappointment. It was a clear box hit of the summer and so was BvS which well made at higher budget than MoS. The first 3 DCEU movies combined grossed more than the MCU counterparts.

So it crossed the 700 M mark finally and still counting, What a ride so far! I'm just wondering how much of a difference that would have been with China onboard. Definitely would have topped GOTG. This is a good sign for DCEU, proving the fanbase from worldwide is equally impressive.
