Links? We already know the budget was $175M. So to break even they would have to have made $350M+, which they have. However, that doesn't include the huge marketing budget. They pushed this movie HARD. Probably even harder than BvsS. That's where the remaining $200M estimate comes in, which means an additional $400M+ to break even, overall. Maybe the insider's estimates are off and it broke even at $650M-$700M. Either way, the movie was a disappointment, financially speaking. BvsS even more so. WB wants its own MCU. However, their DCCU comes off as rushed, with little respect for the characters the movies are based on. Story elements and arcs that should have come later and made a HUGE impact are just being shoehorned into bit parts in their films. The lack of legs shows the quality just isn't up to par with the MCU. Oh, and you mean Avengers 3? The same one that is a huge two part film that includes the entire MCU against Thanos? Yea, no idea why they would be involving the GotG in that one. /s |
Well I was already including the marketing budget while I replied. It comes to an estimate of $275 to $300 M with taxes, rebates and incentives included. No one would be able to post real figures but estimates on the marketing. Only the studio keeps the real numbers and the production budget is made official, unless they decide not to reveal. BO mojo is a reliable source for the figures on production budget
The movie wasn't a financial disappointment. It was a clear box hit of the summer and so was BvS which well made at higher budget than MoS. The first 3 DCEU movies combined grossed more than the MCU counterparts.
