Forums - Politics Discussion - Just found out my sister's a Corbyn supporter

Okay, so as most UK users will know Jeremy Corbyn was elected as leader of the Labour party last year. This happened because Ed Milliband reduced the membership fee to £3 and once Jeremy Corbyn was on the ballot (due to recieving sympathy votes from his own MP's as they knew he couldnt win) many thousands of Conservative voters and hard-left loons joined just to vote for Corbyn. Conservatives did so because he's so left wing that he's totally unelectable and therefore with him as leader the Conservatives will be guaranteed victory in the next general election.

Anyway, fast forward to now and over 80% of the labour parliamentary party have stated they have no confidence in Corbyn as their leader and there's going to be a leadership election between Corbyn and Owen Smith. They've increased the membership fee to vote in it to £25 in order to keep the riff raff and piss-takers from voting. For the past few days I've been seeing lefties on twitter try and rally their comrades to join and vote for Corbyn and I remember thinking how stupid and delusional they were, because if Corbyn does win then Labour are guaranteed to get demolished at the next general election and there could perhaps even be a party split between the hard-left Corbyn folk and the 'Blairites'.

Welp...I've just found out that my own sister is one of them. She joined the Labour party today for the £25 fee just to vote for Corbyn.

I don't know what to say. I want to call her out but it's too cringeworthy and i'll just embarrass her and feel bad. In a way I'm glad because it means the Labour party is fucked, but I'm just so disappointed/ashamed that my sister is one of the dumbasses that's doing it. Can't believe I used to look up to her.

Just needed to get that off my chest.

Since he was elected, I've always said I would be stunned if he made it to the next general election.

Frankly, I hope he does, because he has so little chance of winning and I do not care for the Labour party one bit.

How to win at life.

step 1: let people do what make them happy, mind your own business and do what you need to do to make you happy.
The end

Step 2: Following the logic of step 1, if a loved one is a heroin addict on the verge of an overdose, you know what to do.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

Wait... you have entry fees to vote?

Voting systems of today are so bad. Throw 'em out, turn every democracy into a dictatorship instead, and then no one will run the risk of voting on the "wrong" person/party. Ahh, that would solve everything!!

If you really think she's making the wrong choice, discuss it with her. If she still disagrees with you afterwards, drop it. Live and let live.

The only reason people do heroine is because they're life's are shit. A man must do what he can to brace against the shit of a simple day. So by that logic, yes. Let them do what makes them happy, if you can make them happy then do it. But don't make them unhappy.

Just a quick question for those who are all into politics--why do people use insults like "libtard" or whatever the silly alternative on the other side is? What's the point in looking childish when talking about stuff that's kind of important? They might as well say "u r dum lol" or something, it looks that cringe-worthy, yet I see it all the time. Maybe it's trolls, trying to convince smart people to choose the other side?

You are a massive idiot.

Corbyn is doing just fine. Can't you people see the "New Labour" MP's are the ones destroying Labour?
Isn't Labour supposed to be a socialist party, working for the common people? Then why are you taking a piss out of them?

You need some class counciousness.

Well, its dumb, but are you really surprised? Everything that gets people passionate turns out like that. Football hooligans, videogame fanboys, political .. people.. Its all the same.
