Forums - Microsoft Discussion - XB1 S is a Better Value than a $400 PC

Well atleast on PC you don't have to rebuy your games every generation in the form of a ''remaster''.

I use controllers for almost every game I play on PC, coz you know PC has the option to use both natively.

And what about the games that do require keyboard and mouse? It's hard to resist those once you get a PC.

"everyone has a TV", "for PC you must buy a monitor", "It's hard to resist games that require keyboard and mouse".

You are making a lot of assumptions just to keep your prejudices.

I don't see many PC fans here writing stuff like "It's hard to resist as a console gamer buying three extra controllers.", "for Xbox One you must buy a $150 elite controller", "for modern consoles you must buy an additional expensive hard drive", "everyone has a PC anyway, so you just have to upgrade you GPU" and similar phrases.

Why would you ever use that arguement?? Can the Xbox One be played without a screen or something??

Because everyone has a TV, and often the person or the child is able to play on the console hooked to the TV.

But for PC you must buy a monitor regardless if you already have a TV you could play on.

Kid wants Xbox, momma pays $299 and kid can play instantly.

Kid wants gaming PC, daddy has to pay $570+$129=$699.

A huge difference.

In real life kids play on my laptop.
Still a pain in the arse as it's daddy that has to fix all the mod conflicts, driver updates, crashes and other shit while he doesn't even play on it. How to explain to a 6 year old that the mods he wants are for different versions of forge, minecraft and java.
Anyway not too long now and they can fix stuff themselves, and later build me a PC :) It's all in the long term planning.

PC is improving all the time. Although Lego worlds runs horribly (luckily my kids don't care about stable fps yet), plug in two ds4 controllers and they can play splitscreen without any effort. Press X to join player 2. Miracles do happen now and then.

It would be interesting to know how many PC gamers are active in the sub $600 segment hooked up to their TVs. I think very few.

I don't think this is true. The person who buys specific gaming hardware for their pc is the outlier. Most people play with the stuff the PC came with, thats why the most popular pc games will run on a toaster.

Microsoft is getting rid of this with their upgradable model of generations.

Thats a pretty big jump to make as well. Its great that scorpio is reported to be able to play the older games, but thats a far cry from ensuring it going forward indefinatly the way you can with a PC.

Microsoft has said that they don't want people to leave their old games and communities behind so that one of the reasons the scorpions ios being made. They are also increasing the size of the x360 BC and it's been tested that the OG Xbox might have BC come to XB1 in the future.

Those are great promises and all the better if they come true in even some fashion. If they do, its still pretty distance from the ability a PC user has to go back to to any past game on the platform and play it, functionality that isn't just a pr statement, its functionality that exist today

Yeah you have a point PC can go all the way back with emulation but so can my phone.

Except most gamers always own a pc that is good enough to be $400 worth. That's an incredibly cheap computer.
