lol!

What was your go-to loadout?

If I remember correctly, I picked the Mag60, Assault Rifle, Tek Crossbow, Inflator, and Grenade Launcher.

I usually went with Mag60, Minigun, Inflator, Chest burster and either grenade launcher or napalm gel. Secondary fire on the chest burster and inflator were my favourite things in that game, they never got old. Mag60 secondary fire was really satisfying too.
I was really into the plasma rifle and the flare gun at one point too. Just going around and one-shoting people with that purple ball of awesome.

From what I remember the tek crossbow was hard to use, but did tons of damage if you hit. Not as unreliable as the boomerang, but still a bit dificult.

Just thinking about the weapon selection in that game makes me happy. So many well-designed and creative guns, it really puts most of the new games to shame. Even the stuff you picked up was cool, like the turret and the cerebral bore.

The secondary fire on Mag60 was SO good. Yeah, the crossbow was tough to use, but devastating when it hit. I almost exclusively used the secondary fire with the grenade launcher. The contact grenade was deadly with a direct hit.

And, yeah, the creativity and ingenuity in Rage Wars, a 1999 game, eclipses most of the "AAA" shooters today.

Around the Network

That moment you realize you've had more fun talking about N64 games than anything released in the last five years

For me it was a watershed moment...
Until that day I'd had mainly Atari and Sega consoles as I was never a fan on the NES.
I did love the SNES (Steetfighter) but without any brand loyalty I'd bought a 3DO, Amiga CD32 and Playstation (Japanese Version with only Ridge Racer & Tekken available) but I was there on day 1 on May 1st 1997 (in Australia) to buy the N64 and my Nintendo fanboydom has continued from that day.
That moment where you....jogged with mario.... then RAN
The lack of loading
The fact that games were actually finished
The Rumble Pack
4 player local multiplayer (even 8 with co-op)
The HD mode that shit on PS1 (see NFL QBC 97)
Mario Kart 64
Goldeneye
I have been a Nintendo fan since that day...

Probably the last time where exclusives truly defined which console to own. Both PS1 and N64 had a myriad of exclusives.

The struggle is real :D

I LOVE ICELAND!

Around the Network

Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Super Mario 64, Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 64...etc

Full of classics.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Mario 64 was the first 3D game I ever played and it was so difficult because it was also the first time I ever used an analog stick. Such a mind bending experience.

Idk... PS2 pretty much did what it did due to exclusives. I think the PS3/360 era is more in line of what you're talking about than the PS2 era.

PS2 era for me was a landslide favoring the PS2. In my opinion, both the PS1 and N64 had an amazing amount of exclusives each that made both of them worth owning.

Wow. It makes me feel old, especially since the Xbox is only a few years older (and was my first console). Before I know it, I'll be 30... I mean 40.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).
