Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo64 turns 20 today

The N64 was first released in Japan today in 1996 as a contender against the first PlayStation and the SEGA Saturn.

What are the some of the most precious N64 memories you have?

Feel free to talk anything N64 related in here.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Damn, I'm old...

Anyhow, the first time I saw Super Mario 64 in person - noth'n like it.

Everything about Mario 64 is a fantastic memory.

Being awful at Turok but playing it religiously for a while was great too.

My brother, my best friend, and I, were all huge Killer Instinct fans back in those days. I remember we would get into arguments over who owned how many slots on the combo leaderboards. Great times.

Super Mario 64 blowing my mind. Ocarina of Time being magical. Goldeneye being engrossing unlike any other game before it. Diddy Kong Racing being pure euphoria. It was an amazing console.

Oh, that console I never had and always wanted. I still remeber how Mario 64 blew my mind in every possible way when I played it for the first time in a store. And how it completely destroyed me when I played OoT for the firs time in my cousin house, What a fucking great machine.

Oh man, the memories.

I still remember getting my N64 for Christmas 1996. I had been reading all about Super Mario 64, Turok, and Shadows of the Empire in Nintendo Power that year.

So many amazing experiences on that box, both single and multiplayer. Probably my personal favorite platform :)

Has to be epic 4 player split screen battles in Goldeneye, Perfect dark and turok 2. A close second seeing Hyrule field for the first time in OoT.

Happy birthday to the console that brought us Ocarina of Time, Super Smash Bros, GoldenEye, and Final Fantasy on PS1!!

Biggest N64 memory....

....THQ wrestling games! The WCW vs nWo games were so much fun but when they got licenced to WWF I was blown away! Awesome game to play with a group of friends and the customization and rosters were great.

What will happen when the N64 turns 64 years old?

You know it deserves the GOTY.
