Forums - Gaming Discussion - Scorpio's power is irrelevant, Neo is where it counts. Here's why...

The PS4 has many 1080p/30fps games and it's unlikely you'll see many native 4K/30fps games on the Scorpio. It follows then that the target will likely be framerates and so we'll see most games on the Scorpio running at 1080p/60fps. IF the Neo can match that then the message will only change to 'both console performance match' when games are compared. Throughout this generation and the last, people have only talked about resolution and framerates with more subtle improvements like volumetric lighting, bounce light and sub-surface scattering only been discussed by the tech savvy. That extra power won't even be recognised by your average Joe; they'll see 1080p/60fps on both boxes and see them as the same.

Maybe they chose PS4 because of it was powerful? We dont know.

I dont really care though, to me they are both irrelevant. I will continue to use my PS4 and wont buy the NEO, bigger chance I buy the Scorpio because I dont have an Xbox. Which is also a thing to consider, people might not wanna buy another PS4.

They chose the PS4 because of the difference of the sales and the early  things, like Aways online and Kinect, that Microsoft tried to do with the Xbox.

I thought, as gamers, we are supposed to choose the version with better graphics in multi-plat games. 😥

Such a confusing gen, this one is. 😐

I guess that is what really made people choose the PS4 over the XB1.  You can ask most casual gamers and all they know is that the "PS4 has better graphics" in most cases.

I agree with most here that the user base for the PS4 is really large now.  But, I also think that most of the PS4 owners might normally have bought an Xbox console too, but the XB1's power scared them off.  With the Scorpio, that fear will dissolve.  I think that the Scorpio will change things as far as sales go, but it won't close the userbase gap(forget sales gaps now, console generations are history).  I think the Scorpio will allow for MS to level/even out the weekly/monthly sales of the xbox platform versus the Playstation platform.

It is near the end of the end....

As much as I agree, it's kind of funny to see the shoe on the other foot now we're saying it doesn't matter.

Consoles generations still exist, Microsoft is the one of "Without barriers" or something like that. PS4 is too ahead for just a Power advantage  surpass it sales.

If Scorpio or Xbox One don't have exclusives and all their games launch for PC, they will not be able to sell well.

I disagree, generations are now over.  The consoles run the same OS and play the same games, yet have different hardware.  So, they are different generations?  Does tha make the XB1s a different generation(it caln do 4k)? Or are you saying that the Scorpio and Neo are not a different generation?  I think they are not a different generation, because that will no longer matter...  Heck, the XB1 is really just a suped up 360 isn't it?  WIth backwards compatibility, the XB1 is not different.

Also, I stated in my first post that when you combine the scorpio and the XB1 sales, they will not total the PS4 and Neo sales.  I said that the scorpio will allow the xbox platform(XB1+Scorpio) to match the average sales totals weekly/mothly with the PS4/Neo platform.  THe userbase will always be 25+ million more for the PS4/Neo...

Generations Still exist and there is nothing Microsoft alone can do to change that, they will not be able to support the first Xbox One forever.

PS4 Neo isn't 9th Generation, if they make Xbox One play all the games avaliable on the Xbox Scorpio so the console is of the same generation.

I cannot play PS4 games on the PS3 (With exception of some tittles) and Microsoft will not be able to support the Xbox One when the gap become bigger than the PS2 to the PS4, so Generations isn't over.

Microsoft will need to deal with a User Base of 75-80 + Millions when Xbox Scorpio launch, so more people will support Sony than Microsoft,  Xbox sending all their games for the PC will not help them to get more support, Just a PC version that would go for Steam will also be avaliable for the Windows 10 Store and nothing more, I wonder if they will be able to make this "Play Everywhere" thing with Third Party tittles.

And regarding Xbox One sales, we don't know if it crossed the 20 Millions of units sold yet or how much the console sold, as of now the PS4 is out-selling the Xbox One by a big margin even in the USA, the Gap will be much bigger than 20-25 Millions when Scorpio Launch, and just a More powerful console will not make Microsoft match Sony's monthly sales.

Both Sony and Microsoft aim profit with the Neo and Scorpio so they will not aim it to sell lots of units but to make profit in each unitl, Why do you think that a more powerful console without exclusives and without games that will take advantage of it and that will be aimed to high end users will suddenly Double-Triple Xbox One's weekly-monthly sales to match Sony's Sales ?.

That only works at the start of gen, but years later when userbase has grown and there's a clearer winner we now have a better idea which system all the games are going towards :P

Yes this would have to be the most confusing gen since this is the first to have upgraded consoles.  But I was already confused with this generation from Nintendo making the Wii U then now the NX and figuring out which gen they belong to lol xD

for the next 3 years the target for games won't be neo or scorpio,.. it will be ps4. there will be no exlusive for neo or scorpio despite ms's confusing PR.

in 3 years the neo2 will be launched and the new target will be neo or scorpio depending on who is the market leader between the two. ..but my money is on neo because of ps4's current lead, a 1 year launch advantage a price advantage, and let's face sony's exclusive content is massively outpacing ms'.
