Forums - Gaming Discussion - I don't get MS's plan, announcing this early, Scrap NEO? PS5 in 2018?

Nah dude they want to end this gen..... it sucks, but I'm hoping Sony drop neo(or upgrade the hell out of it) and go straight to ps5 for 2017, it's wayyyy to early of an upgrade IMO, but Microsoft doesn't like being beaten

I would say its better they ignore the Scorpio for now and just release PS5 in 2018 or even better 2019.With how well they are selling the PS4s, I dont think they need to worry about that for a while.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

But the gap isn't small it's like saying all ps4 games will be on ps3.... Xbox Scorpio is not an Xbox one .5, that's a nexgen console

So is PS4 Neo.

4.3 vs 6.

It doesnt matter, its a big stepup for both.

PS4 vs XB1 is like a power differnce of 40%.

I bet you the differnce in image quality between the PS4 neo & Xbox Scorpio, will be smaller than it is between PS4 & XB1.

Theres diminishing returns on just scaleing up resolutions.

all console makers better beware that the games made for these new "high end" machines gonna cost alot of money... there's probably gonna be alot of studios going bankrupt.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I personally think that the Scorpio is more of an Windows 10 equivalent of a Steam machine that uses the Xbox brand name than a console.

One could say that that is just what a console is and that I am only arguing semantics. To that I would say that is a perfectly valid point, but shut up.

It would be intesting if MS had a shorter, smaller upgrade cycle and Sony stuck to a longer bigger one. I think they'd win out in the long run because it's not like a pc you have to replace the whole thing every time you upgrade.

Buying order: Switch, better pc

Toss everything you think you know about console out the window. We're moving to a more iterative releases like phones. I bet it will be every two years at this point and the raw power differences are just pointless to focus on. Phones handle BC without issue and so will consoles. I like it. Buy new when you feel it's time, no more software droughts, hopefully lower prices on software as dev costs drop due to better flexible platforms... win win.

I think they are trying to keep developers on the Windows and DirectX plat form. Make a game for DirectX? - it will work on Xbox One, PC, tablet, and more powerful Xboxes. They make the game, then scale it to the different consoles.

It's a step ahead. And a way to fight Steam and Vulcan.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

They know the XBO failed, they are trying with something new.
I don't think it'll work, anyway.

Failed to 360 numbers? Sure.

But I dont think calling it a failure is fair. Vita and Wii U are better examples of what failure is.

You seem to be under the assumption that there will still be gens. Sony is bringing Neo this or next year, why would they have a new console just one year after that?

Don't kid yourselves, at some point there will be a hard reset where new games won't function on older hardware. Just like the mobile industry forces you to upgrade to a certain firmware and hardware model to keep up to date.

Not sure about MS, but there will be a real PS5 after the PS4 update. The numbering of the systems is too big of a brand to just start calling their consoles Orbis or Neo from now.

Better examples do not exclude if from being a failure.
No wonder MS is already making a system to replace it, stopped sharing shipments data, keeps dropping the price constantly.

XBO is a failed product.

If you wanna make it black and white, sure.

But bear in mind if Vita and Wii U were selling like X1, they might be considered successful and not being phased out so quickly.

Hence, failure is not black and white like you believe.
