Never played any of them until I played through the MCC. I enjoyed Halo CE far more than 2. Something about 2 just didn't feel right. Too many cinematics and too story focused. But that's always a negative for me.

Halo 2.

Halo 2 because I didn't get to play Combat Evolve until the Master Chief Collection.

I usually don't like games that focus too much on cinematics and storytelling either, but Halo 2 didn't bother me in that regard. I still feel they kept the primary focus where it should be; on the gameplay.

Halo CE. The only repetitive level is the library.

Everything else is perfect.

Halo CE. Best launch title ever? Best launch title ever.

Halo 2 outside of MP was extremely meh imho.

2, it was amazing, best multiplayer besides 5 and the story was amazing as well. But Halo CE is really good as well.

Halo CE. Campaign was better: wider open spaces; better pistol; David Cross's voice wasn't there to take me out of the game; ending hyped us up for the sequel, much better than Halo 2's crummy cliffhanger ending; put XBox on the map.

Game of its respective generation.

Halo CE by an absolute country mile. Halo 2 was an unfinished arena death match FPS rushed out on the back of XBL. The campaign itself was unfinished and very poorly paced.

I liked the expansive levels and overall pacing of Halo CE. The scale was also much smaller compared to Halo 2 but it felt more focused so I found the levels were overall more memorable from CE.
