I wouldn't say they are doomed as they have cash and are moving towards mobile games for more mobile revenue.

But its not going to be an easier time for them. I mean there next console is going to release maybe around the PS4.5, which will have more games coming for it (3rd party) and VR should have already taken the PR this year. I feel that unless the NX is really unique with lots of software, they are going to struggle.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

Nintendo is always doomed, who are you kidding?

In fact, in this day and age, consoles altogether are dead! Which is funny, because PC is also dead for 30 years now. Everything is doomed!

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

NINTENDO IS FAILING THE CONSOLE GAMER, not financially. Nintendo Drones are okay with no 3rd party support and 3 games a year (Last years lineup, Operation Rainfall games were the only games that year in America). If you like handhelds fine, but Nintendo as a console manufacturer is objectively a garbage. NO 1ST PARTY IN 2016. and sparse 3rd party THAT CAN'T SUPPORT THE CORE GAMER. Nintendo fans say that their consoles should be successful strictly from the 1st party. I don't like Sony's 1st party, but I bought it for the 3rd party multiplats or exclusives (Atlus games, Ni-Oh,Bloodborne, FFVII Timed).  Nintendo cannot just cater to their own crowd and constantly delay their 1st party at the same time. Nintendo fans always make the excuse muliplats don't help a good lineup and compare them to Sony. I'm talking about Nintendo, no comparison is necessary. Retro not making a Metroid, No Zelda until the end. NINTENDO FANS THEMSELVES NEVER ASKED FOR THE GAMES WE'RE GETTING (SMTxFE, Mario Maker, DKTF,3DW, Remasters) . People have been asking for F-Zero, Zelda, Metroid, ect. So if Nintendo fans are okay with what they have, then that's their problem..

People who say that only want Nintendo to stop making consoles and start making games for their console of choice. Its more of a compliment than anything.

People love to hate on Nintendo for some odd reason. I guess people are entitled to their own decisions but come on if you don't like them then don't talk about them. I don't like Macs but you're not going to see me go on an Apple forum and talk crap about them. That's a waste of my time and the rest of the people's time on the forum.

People are even starting to try and debunk the idea that Nintendo is somewhat financially stable, like that Mundane Matt dude. Yes, Nintendo didn't hit their profit targets but at least they made profit unlike 2-3 years ago! Every company has its ups and downs. They wouldn't exist without them. Sony's Vita is a freaking bomb but people don't even mention that because it's obvious. But people still give Nintendo crap about Wii U when we all know it's a bomb saleswise. We get it, Wii U sucks in terms of sales but it's not going to sink Nintendo.

One bad console won't sink any company. Nintendo has had a great run from NES-Wii with them posting Nintendo like profits every one of those years. It wasn't until Wii U that things got shaky. If Wii U doesn't kill Nintendo PSV won't kill Sony. Nintendo is not doomed, people don't understand just how big Nintendo really is. They look at investor meetings as if they're analysts and take that 61% drop in profit, which isn't good but has been worse in the past, as being Nintendo's doom.

Everybody wants to be a Nintendo analyst these days and they're doing it with false mindsets because they don't want to do the research and they'll just regurgitate what the media has been saying without digesting anything. Nintendo is in a difficult situation...but doomed...far from it actually.

And one more thing, when people bring up the "Reserves" thing, you have to understand...during the Wii and DS era...the Wii and DS literally printed money. That meme...is 100% accurate. Most of the reserves that Nintendo has now were accumulated during that era. 250 Million units of hardware between Wii and DS, you of course have the software which sold at crazy rates, Mario Kart Wii at 35 Million, The Wii series, hundreds of millions of units, Pokemon on DS, New Super Mario Bros...just to name a few. And ALL that profit went straight to Nintendo. No middle man 3rd party or first party stuff going on.

If Nintendo were doomed, we'd see much worse than poor console sales. We'd see entire closing of important studios, laying off of thousands of staff, losses out the ass, and nobody buying their software...which for the most part isn't the case. Nintendo isn't invincible but they're well off enough.

I have such strong opinions on how disingenuous articles like this are, but I'll pass.

As many people said during the Gamecube era, then the Wii happened. NX could actually be a success you know.

IF plenty = nothing, sure. N64/GC time feelings.

To be honest, it's not often I see people say that Nintendo is doomed anymore (there was a period though... perhaps two years ago, give or take), and those times that I do see people say "Nintendo is doomed", it's more often than not a joke from Nintendo fans, spoofing those that, two years ago would say Nintendo was doomed.

So while the article is, in essence, correct, it's a bit late to the party. It's like if someone were to write an article now telling us why the US invading Iraq is a bad idea...

For fuck's sake, the only time in the last few years that I heard that Nintendo is doomed, is in this kind of post of article trying to explain that Nintendo is not doomed.

Could just stop with those? Because the only thing you are achieving is sending out the message that you are actually afraid that Nintendo might actually doomed and you are just trying to reassure yourself.

Stop.

Nintendo is not doomed, Nintendo has a ton of money and still have the potential to make tons more, they'll still be here in 50 yearsn because they don't take much risk with the money they have.

Now, what may be doomed, is there console business. At least, that business is going to change a lot.

So, are we done now?
