Correct, but there was a ton of speculation as to it being released this year and actually, the console will be ready by Holiday 2016, the games wont be though, so they are holding off

Seriously. People are acting like Nintendo killed their dog. It's ridiculous. It was only announced to be talked about in 2016. which is what they are doing.

Nintendo never announced an official launch date at all, thus NX was never delayed.

In the Nintendo direct in dec. 2015 they showed Zelda U footage with a 2016.
Scince they delayed Zelda to 2017 to release wii u and NX version together its very likely they planned to release NX holiday 2016.

Also e3 2015 reggie said that next e3 they will talk about nx (also likely for a holidy 2016 release). No release is 2017 with no e3 presence.

Otherwise you are left with no explanation as to why Nintendo would tell investors that NX is going to be a key contributor to Nintendo-like profits in the fiscal year ending in March 2017 when only a few months later their projections don't match that anymore.

Clearly their intention was to release it this holiday. If not, Nintendo has no business sense. But obviously they couldn't do that because they had some issue with game development.

Kimishima said they "wanted to make sure there were games to go along with the NX."

But sure, I can concede that we don't know absolutely for sure that the NX wasn't delayed, if only because it hasn't been stated outright, but you certainly can't say for sure that the NX wasn't delayed! In fact, it seems a lot more likely that it was than that it wasn't.

If they intended to do something at a certain time and now are doing it later than originally intended when the project commenced, it is a delay.

 

The denial is real with this one.

 

Or do you think Zelda has been delayed to align with the NX launch, even though it was already delayed to 2016 for the NX launch?

No business sense? It's not like consoles haven't released in march before. And if they were so keen on releasing in 2016 they must have planned it ahead of time. Just throw one game, a remaster and some Ubisoft shovelware. Again, launch lineups are never stellar.
