I don't understand why most people (who shout out on the net) are upset about the date.

Nintendo avoids or might avoid:
- rushing the thing to be ready in time for Christmas
- lots of people being disappointed with a weak launch line-up/first 6 months because games aren't ready
- an insanely huge first day system update
- too many users signing in during the first few days of the NX and the new online network making it crash and people being upset
and hasn't talked about the NX at all so people don't know anything about it, there wasn't even a date before.

This is all clever to me, especially when they can slowly build it up for a proper Christmas 2017.
This is very Nintendo-like actually, I wish more companies would think and act like that and not only look at what's best for the quick money. In the end, customers need to be satisfied and a smooth image is worth more than a quick cash-in. It just baffles me how the world actually seems to want companies to be assholes and rush an unfinished product to the market with a ton of flaws and resulting effects when it's just about a 3 months wait for something they didn't even know when it was coming in the first place. Hardware and sofware always needs to be tested and pushed out slowly. It doesn't work well with a sudden userbase of millions of people during the first week. Slow and steady for a steady system. I hate all of my current consoles for not being steady at all and will love the NX just for that if Nintendo is intending what I believe.

I like your perspective on the matter. Sometimes us fans forget that we're not shareholders. As long as Nintendo corrects all the mistakes it made with the 3DS and Wii U launches, I'm fine whenever it comes out.

Or maybe the hardware just isn't ready development-wise and Nintendo needs more time to work out any potential kinks?

I'd much rather Nintendo release a functional console than rush it out for the holidays.

Turkish is right actually

People tend to spend their money on black friday, holidays... Not everyone will open their wallets just like that, 3 months after Xmas

Here in America, March-April is tax return season. People might not be spending like the holiday season, but they tend to have extra disposable income around this time.

It won't be a flop to me because I don't expect it to be very successful. I predicted it with the WiiU and I was right about the WiiU not being successful and that gimmick controller not having any appeal. If they are going with another gimmick with all the secrecy, then this console could possibly sell less than the WiiU. If it has a regular controller, then it will sell more. Nintendo just does not have the fans they once had and no amount of third party support will make their brand more appealing again. They just need to focus on profitability.

Given I know nothing (specs, price, games, etc.) about the system hard to say.

I think going to March won't affect initial launch sales because of the built in fanbase Nintendo has. The concern is after the first month or so will the system fade in the Summer creating concerns about user base quickly.

You mean the small fanbase of 10mil? It took over 3 years for the WiiU to sell that much. March is a horrible launch period since they don't get much support in the U.S/Europe which both regions thrive off the holiday season. VR will still be a huge deal and GOW4 may release further taking attention away from this new console. A September release was their best option with Zelda launching with it and a 3D Mario game by March.

If the original plan for Wii U was to make it last five years before its successor launch, then an advance of just 7 or 8 months could have its advantages, first, not rushing it too much, second, the launch should be big enough anyway, then it would have another boost for the Xmas season, and it would start that season already with some user base, increasing SW sales.

The heck? It's off to a bad start because it's not being revealed at E3, nor because it's of a holiday release?

I don't think that's a good basis for the success or failure of a console. I feel as long as it has a good library and good price, it can release whenever and be successful. A good lineup will help it out as well.

I meant that the Wii U launched well enough, it was the months that followed that really saw concern.  I don't think launching in March or September makes a major difference for the NX if it has the same issues that sunk the Wii U.

I am not sure why players have high expectations of the NX?
It has a short life time cycle, it's not going to explode like many thinks, and to be fair WII U just burned mostly everything WII managed to build including the brand name WII
Again Nintendo is starting all over from ground, Only thing that progressed was eshop sales, Sure Nintendo could have & should have done more during WII U days, but that didn't happen
I expect fair sales from the machine, Nintendo should aim at 40 million machines life time at the very least to help get a decent market share for it's home consoles future

It's not looking good for the console considering the incompetent company behind it.

i cant believe so many people thought it would be 2016. even the great RolStoppable was tricked into thinking a 2016 release was inevitable.

i can't believe you're taking this whole thing as a victory.  the 2016ers arguments where far more correct than the 2017ers.
