I highly doubt Platinum could have done anything if Nintendo did demanded changes for Bayonetta 2. 

Yeah, they could have punched any executive who tried to do so.

Even if it's not on Nintendo, I don't get these silly changes.

I think the things that bothers me is this view that the west is so conservative that they need to erase some panties on teenagers, while we get games like GTA in which you can kill each person on the streets.

Oh noez, a scantily clad young girl shows slightly less cleavage in the Western release, the game is ruined, ruined I say! Never mind the actual gameplay, or the soundtrack, or any of that, no, the game's entire value is determined by how many millimeters of cleavage the female lead shows!

For Pete's sake, if people want to perv on anime girls, hit up Google images and perv to your heart's content.
Calling this "heavily censored" shows a staggering lack of perspective.

If what they're censoring isn't a big deal then why censor it in the first place? Let people decide what they want in a game. Nintendo should just offer people two versions of these games. Censored and Uncensored.

I think the people who complain about this stuff don't quite understand the different ways in which Western and Japanese media approach sexuality and fanservice. It's not just about the exostence of skimpy outfits and whatnot. The googly anime eyes, high pitched voices, and jiggly Jelly boobs in are not things that the non weaboo audience, at least in the US, is going to be comfortable with. Add onto that these ridiculously gaudy/sexualized outfits and poses, casually frequent panty and boob shots -- even on the most modest of characters -- and you can see the problem. They're all suuper Japanese and cringeworthy as hell for the unfamiliar. Hell, for me as well, and I've been watching Anime since I was 9.

Bayonetta on the other hand is much more familiar in the way she presents herself. She is giving you a show, whereas a lot of these other Japanese games are a bit "creepy and voyeuristic."

And maybe, just maybe, couldn't it be that a game like this is aimed toward that audience you just disregarded? Hence there shouldn't be a problem in the first place?

Well apparently $60-80 (AUD, what ever the 3ds and Wii U games cost in your country) clevage and panties and sexual stuff are better than free hentai and porn on the internet.
