never liked any form of trackpad. i prefer a good old fashioned mouse. actually, no, not old fashioned. 5-button is my requirement these days. but thinking about trackpads now, i wouldnt be surprised if in 5 years we ditched them and just had all computers be touch screen.

Agree, I've always hated track pads.

I think the other thing we're forgetting here is that 'windows' doesn't make a track pad.  Windows is an operating system.

The trackpad-

For some reason, every good laptop for Windows has the most PATHETIC trackpad I've ever seen- I mean, I don't want to nitpick, but trackpads are important to a laptop.

Not going to complain, Macs and Window machines are good. No point in debating, each have their main audience- macs for students and whatnot, Microsoft for practically everything.

I just find it weird that every windows laptop I've ever seen always had a terrible trackpad.

Both OSX and Windows are comfortable to use though- one thing I love about OSX though is that it's extremely optimized- my slightly-outdated 1.5 GHz macbook does perfectly fine.

My hope for a windows laptop with a good trackpad is still alive though. .-.

Windows doesn't make Track Pads, neither does Microsoft.  Windows is an Operating System that Software giant, Microsoft, makes.  Microsoft doesn't make their own laptops/PC's.

I'm using a ~2010 Samsung laptop all the time and the trackpad works extremely well.

I have an XPS13 as well as a Macbook Pro. The Mac's touchpad is different but not better.

Battery runtime on Macs is also insane! My Mac has no problem whatsoever with 10 hours straight without the need for a recharge. My old Vaio never got beyond 2,5 hours.

The truth is though, that you can most certainly find a Windows Laptop that can easily compete with anything Apple has to offer. Such devices are very expensive though - just like a Mac. Macs aren't overpriced, Apple just doesn't have anything to offer for low budgets. You can't compare a Mac with some 300 $ Laptop. You also can't compare Macs with other Notebooks just by the specs. There are way too many other things to consider with a Laptop like the screen, build quality etc.

In my humble opinion, Macs are really great and I love working with them. But there is something for everybody on the market and Macs are not for everybody. If you're looking for something cheap, it's not an option. If you're looking for a gaming notebook, go somewhere else. There really is no absolute best choice for everybody. It always depends. Just like in this case. If you happen to use the trackpad a lot, Macs are a great choice and you will absolutely love that bad boy with its surface made out of glass. But if you use a mouse most of the time anyway, no need to spend all that money for a superior trackpad. Also, the trackpad is available separately and I think it also works with Windows just fine.

Just goes to show you how badly Mac's getting pounded by Windows, that we're talking about track pad supremacy lol.

To be honest I choose Windows due to lower prices and games. Macs aren't bad.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

I grew up with a divorced mother and father, on opposite ends of this 'debate'.
