Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why Sony Won't Deploy PS4 Exclusives on PC

The MAIN reason is because Sony does not -just- want to sell software, nor do they -just- want to sell hardware. This is not how you develop an ecosystem and having titles tied to a specific platform is far more lucrative (albeit risky) investment. You can play Sonys games but you need to pay up for the goods. This lets them be physically represented in your household, a direct line to their store front with no middle man. They have complete control over the advertising, they get to pick who comes and who goes, and they have much MUCH more power over third and second party developers this way. If this if this was not an ideal situation to have then Microsoft wouldn't have bothered with the X1 this gen.

Plus, with this physically represented product you now have extra streams of revenue in the form of:
Peripherals (controllers, VR, Move, rock band)
Services (PS+, PsMusic, PsVue, PSN, Video on demand)
Licensing fees (the cut they take from games they don't own)

These are things Microsoft will miss out on. They know that. Thy do not want that. They have little choice at this rate. The Xbox project has continued to fail in its goals, scope and ambition.

Sony is not Microsoft.

Because they want to sell the PS4, perhaps it's difficult for some to believe but console exclusives are a major selling point.

Yep. I was part of a thread over at GAF in which the argument was exclusives don't sell consoles. I simply asked: 'why do some gamers own both consoles?'

Hype?

Let's be fair here, if Xbox One was selling at the pace PS4 is doing than games like Quantum Break would not have been on PC(definitely not day one anyway).

That said i would love to see cross-buy for PS4 games that are on PC, and as long as that doesn't happen i'm staying away from digital distribution as much as possible.

Hell to the no. Sony should not follow suit. Not for AAA games like Uncharted etc.

CPU: Ryzen 7950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

They will. There just avoiding the heat for now. Might not be this gen but eventually everything will be on PC. Its the largest and most popular platform thats growing everyday. Avoiding it only hurts your own studios.

Hype?

So you think someone with a PS4 would buy ab XB1 because of 'hype'? What exactly creates that hype?
