Forums - General Discussion - Pokemon company is going to have a super bowl commercial!

Sweet! They should have a bunch of big pokemon, like Machoke, Thro, and other fighting pokemon on the ad, along with some other pokemon cheerleaders. That would be funny...

People here seem to not understand that The Pokémon Company whether there are or not any Pokémon games has an income of about 1 Bilion Dollars PER YEAR, 5 milions is like nothing for them ...

I'm guessing this is for the mobile Pokemon game they unveiled a few months back.

Mobile games now have way more TV marketing than regular video games. I see more ads for mobile than PS + XBox + Nintendo combined x3.

The first trailer for Pokémon GO has 20 million views so there are some potential buyers out there.

Its gonna be an educational video about how Pokemon Go is gonna ruin your children lives and your Credit Card

Yeah, I heard they paid 5 Million for a 30 second ad. Pokemon is big, but Super Bowl big? Maybe not.

Pokemon is one of the biggest video game series of all time in terms of sales, I think the only series that has sold more than it is Mario. bear in mind that other parts of the Pokemon brand are extremely lucrative too, the cards, the toys, the show. 5 million is not a giant investment for the company

its a bit odd, yeah, because Super Bowl doesn't really ring 'Pokemon' to me but I'm not too surprised. again, its one of the largest game franchises. EVERY Pokemon game sells great

It's gonna be Pokemon Go (the iPhone/Android Pokemon game), and there will probably be 5-6 other smartphone games advertising during the Superbowl too, so it's going to have competition.

No doubt the Pokemon company is hoping this game can generate huge profits for them like the big gun smartphone games like Clash of Clans and Angry Birds have.

well, the only way to make Pokemon Go huge (and with huge I mean Angry Birds or Candy Crush level) is to design it in such a way that literally anyone could get addicted, without having to invest too much time or anything

the game is gonna be popular with or without big advertising, but a Super Bowl ad means they are really confident it will appeal to a wider audience than the pokefans

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Yeah, it's definitely for Pokemon Go.. I doubt they would advertise Pokken at the Super Bowl of all places!

Look at the Pokemon Go trailer above ... it looks fairly large budget as is, I mean they finish in New York's Times Square ... it looks like it has a far bigger budget than any Wii U or 3DS game for marketing already.

So that probably means for sure this is for Pokemon Go.

I think it's cute that there are ppl who think it's anything not Pokémon Go.

It's obvious what it is.

That would be awesome!
