ñ is a letter in spanish, not a word. I was just telling you because I assume it's not in your keyboard. For example kid or child=niño at least you seem to know that xD Well, let's leave it there since this is a little off topic hah

Haha, I just replied to the other person; I don't know how to get the symbol on my keyboard.

Ticket prices are still pretty cheap in the US compared to Germany the average ticket price is currently $8.61 but there are a lot of places where you can get a ticket cheaper than that.  Plus when you go before 6 P.M. tickets are cheaper and on top of all that there are discount theaters that show movies that are close to the end of their theatrical run for about $2.

Where do you live, you lucky bastard lol?! Here, in NY, it's a $12.50/15.00/20.00 breakdown for regular, IMAX, and 3D. That doesn't include any surcharges for processing, reserved seats, or specialy theaters.

Fort Worth, TX.  NYC pretty much has the highest ticket prices in the US not only that it also has the highest rent prices next highest is probably LA in both categories.

It's so strange because my country is basically the pirate master and yet ticket sales are up YOY (at least they were last year). It really feels like people go to the cinema way more now than before.

We do have lots of promotions tho and I never spend more than $4 for a ticket. Monday-Wendsday the price is $2 for the cinema I usually go to.

They could be dropping the price faster though, it's not more important the profit? And well idk your country, but it seems like every market outside the us is growing

which prices? cinema tickets are actually more expensive now but the most popular and biggest cinema brand is owned by a huge corporate group so they usually make cross deals with their other companies and more times than not you can go to the cinema and only pay like $2.5 per ticket. But the most expensive formats like VIP, DX and 3D are usually sold out too so I think it's a healthy sales climate.

everyone saying tickkets are so expensive, but i have not seen that happening at all, after all the numbers in the OP are for the US. I can still go on tuesday night to marcus theaters and watch any movie for $5.

That is highly isolated, especially for the newly released movies.

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/yearly/ . You can check the evolution of ticket prices here, starting from 1980. Note that around when Gone with the Wind released around 1940, the average ticket price was $1.

Even nowadays' movie directors agree with the fact that going to the movies is an activity that has become too expensive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ7qKKQrSBY

it's not highly isolated, the company is not that small they have at least 40 theaters 7 states and you can get those prices in big cities like minneapolis, chicago, milwaukee, Colombus, Omaha and more.

No shit sherlock. A ticket costs 12 € around here today - 15 € if it's 3D and they seem to show every goddamn movie in 3D these days. God, I hate 3D. But that's another story. On top of that, they want an additional 3 € if a movie has "overlength", meaning it is longer than 2 hours. So if you wanna watch a 3D movie with more than two hours, that will set you back a whopping 18 €. It's no cheaper for children either. So if you wanna watch a movie with your wife and two children, that would be 72 € for just one evening, not counting snacks and drinks. You know, the 9.99 € for Netflix a month seems like the better option.

When I was a Kid, a movie ticket cost 6 DM, which is roundabout 3 € (!). It just became too expensive.

I would love to know where I can go see a movie for $8.61. Outside of early matinees, I don't know where I could go for under $10 (and I don't live in a large city or anything, metro under 1 million).

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
