No shit sherlock. A ticket costs 12 € around here today - 15 € if it's 3D and they seem to show every goddamn movie in 3D these days. God, I hate 3D. But that's another story. On top of that, they want an additional 3 € if a movie has "overlength", meaning it is longer than 2 hours. So if you wanna watch a 3D movie with more than two hours, that will set you back a whopping 18 €. It's no cheaper for children either. So if you wanna watch a movie with your wife and two children, that would be 72 € for just one evening, not counting snacks and drinks. You know, the 9.99 € for Netflix a month seems like the better option.

When I was a Kid, a movie ticket cost 6 DM, which is roundabout 3 € (!). It just became too expensive.

Ticket prices are still pretty cheap in the US compared to Germany the average ticket price is currently $8.61 but there are a lot of places where you can get a ticket cheaper than that.  Plus when you go before 6 P.M. tickets are cheaper and on top of all that there are discount theaters that show movies that are close to the end of their theatrical run for about $2.

I would love to know where I can go see a movie for $8.61. Outside of early matinees, I don't know where I could go for under $10 (and I don't live in a large city or anything, metro under 1 million).

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."
