I truely believe streaming is the future of console gaming..... so PS NOW is a huge advantage for sony, all they need is to let players play games they digitally downloaded streamed through now for free as long as they have ps plus.... and BC would not be an issue....

Jill: "Hello everybody, today Bob is here to present us something groundbreaking. Applause to Bob!"

Bob: "Hello Jill, nice to see you!"

Jill: "Hey Bob, nice to see you! So Bob, please tell us what you brought to us today."

Bob: "Jill, today I present you and the audience nothing less than.... THE FUTURE OF CONSOLE GAMING!"

Jill: "Bob, you do what?! No, this can't be true. I am soooo eager to find out what it is. What is it?!"

Bob: "Calm down, blondie, I will give you details on something *entirely* new..."

Jill: "Bob, please..."

Bob: "Shhhh... Fasten your seatbelts... I hereby present all of you Playstation NOWWWWW!"

Jill: "Playstation, did you really say PLAYSTATION? Omg, I can't hold it" *makes theatrallic moves*

Bob: "Yes, the new online only gaming service, invented by Sony!"

Jill: "Bob, did you just say online only?! That's awesome!"

Bob: "Yes, it is! No more complications putting discs in hardware, no more selling or buying used games! AT ALL!"

Jill: "Wow, that is so good! But Bob, what happens if my internet is off?!"

Bob: "What do you expect? Of course you can't play anymore because it's an online only service!"

Jill: "That is truly amazing!"

Bob: "It is but there is even more, Jill..."

Jill: "Wait, there is even more? That isn't possible..."

Bob: "It is! Not only can't you play while being offline but due to it being an online only service, you even have added controller input delay!"

Jill, almost shedding a tear: "Wait, they also have added input delay? How is that even possible?!"

Bob: "Because of the magicians at Sony, of course! And not only that, Jill...

Jill: "Bob, don't do this to me..."

Bob: "PS Now also makes the IQ worse for being sub-native on your screen!!1!!"

Jill: "Oh My God, Bob. Oh my god. We have gaming now online only, with added controller input delay AND sub-native resolution on TV? Awesome! But Bob, doesn't this sound suspiciously just like the Xbox One from Microsoft (boo sounds from the off when Microsoft was mentioned)?!"

Bob: "You might think it is but we made it even worse - You even have artifacts on your screen because of the awesome compressed video we send you on your TV!"

Jill: "You send compressed video? On our TVs? How the hell is that even possible?"

Bob: "And even better, dumb chicken, we make the image quality even worse when your internet is bad!!"

Jill: "That's absolutely amazing, Bob, absolutely amazing. So let me summarize what PS Now is

- We have online only

- We have added controller input delay

- We have worse IQ than ever before

- We can't really buy games anymore, only rent them

And all of this in one service!?"

Bob: "Yes, Jill, welcome to the FUTURE OF GAMING, brought to you by Sony, Greatness awaits!"

I know, it's rediculous isn't it, and stupid companies like Netflix and Hulu think people will pay to watch streamed versions of movies and tv shows instead of buying them to play locally on blu-ray! how insane of them!

No, the best is when people compare two different things in a way to make them look equal! These are the best times in forums.

- Bad is subjective. I have no issue playing any system from an atari 2600 to present on a modern TV. Only ROB and Lightgun games are acutally impossible to be used.

- You can get Composite to HDMI converts. But the smart thing is to buy a TV that has all ports. They are still made. Also, older consoles are slowly being moded to have HDMI added on. N64 and NES are currently being completed. SNES and GEN are starting up.

- Region logic on old consoles, no problem. All my systems are bypassed. And have no problem.

-thats because Pong doesnt look different on any TV. You have to understand that older consoles dont look much worse on more mordern TVs like the 2D console era 8 and 16 bit for example. But more mordern games like PS2 games look bad on mordern TVs. 480p or even 720p emulation would make a huge difference with these games.

-still not everyone has the money buying extra converters or moding its old consoles.
- yes it is a problem with PS2 which is so hard to play from different regions that most people just buy a Japanese console for example. Other consoles have to be modded either way but again this is not feaseble to the average consumer.

- Personal opinion. I included ALL consoles.  The 3D ones too. I  have no problem for me playing them on modern TV's.

- But you have the money to rebuy said game ports/remakes, or buy the newer systems right. You spending money somewhere, regardless.

- All PS2's can be bypassed easily with slight lid mods. And Swap Magic. Or full chips. This isn't a big issue, as it use to be. When the PS2 was still important. No more hardware revisions. Gamecube region lockout is a total joke. It's just two wires and a switch. It's built into each system. NES, SNES, and 64 are physical tab cutouts. Wii, Priiloader.

I am not saying i wouldnt do that, in fact i made many things to get better videoquality for my consoles or making them regionfree. But again this is not feasable for the average consumer, not everyone wants to read some forums or doing the research.

And you cant get progressive scan support on ps2, there is a way for pal systems but then again not all games work, them making even the most basic BC would make all ps2 games 480p instead 480i. And 720p is this something you can do with a mode? nope

Nah, the best is when people constantly display their hatred for a particular consoles features on a forum hiding it under thinly veiled sarcasm and "jokes", that stuff is golden.

This is just business as usual on gaming forums, golden is moderation randomness because of (perhaps) biased mods but this is not the topic of this thread. That said, I am really surprised how open people show their hatred sometimes, yes.

Certainly is business as usual! and theres no such thing as unbiased.

The PS library is superior by leaps and bounds. Boundless treasured exclusives compared to Microsoft. Problem is Sony never had foresight in how to digitally transfer the games like Microsoft. Where Sony has the edge Microsoft loses, but where Microsoft has the edge Sony is inferior. They are using their cloud for a good cause.

BC is always nice for the consumer, but the benefits to platform holders are slim at best.

Fortunately there is a solution for people that want to play old Playstation games. It's called PS Now and it requires online connectivity.

I understand why PS4 doesn't have BC for PS3. But its a shame they haven't bothered to port their PS1 and PS2 emulators to PS4.

This sounds an awful lot like Mattrick's "we have a product for you" punchline...

In your opinion, right?

I'd take Halo, Gears, Fable, Forza, and other MS products over what Sony offers. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Sony products but I think time has shown many of their products were over rated. I like Naughty Dog stuff and God of War, but the rest I can live without.

And if we're looking at 3rd party stuff as well. Preference for Playstation is high dependent on how much you care about JRPGs. A relatively niche genre these days.
