Wait a minute. You say people are quick to forget something that happened a decade ago as opposed to something that happened 2 years ago? That some how the Sony's policies with the PS3 are somehow more pertient to the PS4 than the XB1's policies are to the XB1?
Yah ok...
Ironic that you talk about how nobody criticizes Sony for lack of BC. You seem to forget, when PS3 did have BC, nobody cared because it was too expensive. Nobody cared about backwards compatibility for all of last generation, nobody cared for the first two years of this one, but now all of a sudden in 2015 we should care about the ability to play old games why? What's changed?
You make some kind of grandoise assumption that everyone who buys games buys them for the same reason, that they will always want to play dated games that they bought from way back. And that any other motive is Alien? If they sold their old console in the first place, why wouldn't they not sell the games they bought for that console as well? Isn't that a perfectly legitmate reason?
I didn't buy Paper Mario in hopes that I could play it on whatever came after then N64.

You make a decade sound like 50+ years, I almost want to wonder and keep hold of how long this gens blunders are going to be rememebred vs last just to prove a point but you're banking on me not doing that to prove your own if we go by the quippy "yah ok w/e".
Back then it was way too expensive, now it isn't and PC has had that for years, apparently when some people do it it doesn't matter, when SOny does it and it;s too expensive "fuck dat shit", hell Wii even had some backwards compat and to a tiny extent XB360. Why or when can we care about BC?, I mean you claim back then no one (you mean absolutely everyone since you didn't say some so lets make that brutally clear that you factucally mean 100% everyone) cared about BC but now we can't?, well when the hell can we?, no seriously when because I;d love to know when it;s eventually going to be a thing, even slightly important to some people I would love to be told exactly the date and time.
You say I make a grandoise assumption and yet you make a witty quip to make a point, yet you make it sound like everyone buys games for one reason (to play them in the current time frame of course) and no reason at all to play nor care for BC since your argument so far has been "no one gave a shit in the past, suddenly it's important to one group and more recently another but seriously why now when no one gave a shit?". What exactly is wrong with a desire to play dated games in the present?, like what is so wrong or super less important than simply wanting to play games of the past on up to date ahrdware, I do this on my PC and my previous older pre-built PC's for years while also playing current games, from PS1-PS2 was great for BC and suddenly it's not important or not a desirable thing according to you and those who generally don't share sentiments for BC.
See if I bought a console of the current gen I would expect that game to run on the enxt system since it has been done in the past with prior systems and PC does it all the time, the very reason to argue against BC seems alien because it's been a thing, it still is a thing and it still matters because it's also part of preservation, I mean EA gave out RED Alert 2 and it;s expansion pack for free on their Origin client recently and having it made to run with the more up to date OS's, what's not to desire?, would you rather play a game once and leave it in the past forever and never ever play it again? (console systems eventually stop being produced and will die before you use the "I'll keep my old systems" as an end all to be all).
