Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why isn't motion controlled gaming still a big deal?

Because in a 1000 years people will still be pressing buttons and not using Hollywood's interpretation of the future.

The PS5 Exists.

I think the problem with motion gaming is that companies tried to surf on the novelty and popularity to make quick cash ins by making crappy games. Some games were really well done and motion gaming still has an audience it's just not for the core and hardcore players.

To me it's a peripheral just like driving wheels. Why would I use a driving wheel to play a shooter, this makes no sense, then why should we use motion controls to play games not made for it? Dancing games are still fun and so are sports games with motion control.

There's a market for these games and type of control, but it's not for people that will buy a new console every generation for some little graphical improvements and 60$ for every games.

I would love motion controls for online shooters on console like splatoon.

It was just a gimmick that became a bit annoying overtime.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Most games require speed and precision. Motion controls often have a problem with that. In many cases, designing a good motion control scheme seems to be quite difficult.

I predict it's never going to take off really well among core gamers unless some great innovation appears out of nowhere.

This is exactly why I said about arcades being the sort of place motion controls *would* have found a home, had they still existed. I really do miss arcades :(

It really is down to suitability. Bowling games. Golf games and such are great fun with motion controls. Football on the otherhand, impossible to replicate. My favourite use of motion control really was FPS. But even then you had to accept less accuracy etc. which ruins gaming from a competition aspect.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

It was only popular with the Wii, and the audience for the Wii left, and it died with it.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Millions of people are tilting and twisting their phones.. Motion controls went with the people who loved it the most

Yes and there I thought they would bring the arcades back but they didn't. In huge malls there are arcades but most of them are deserted, in theatres too.

It was a fad, and it's not too accurate and fun to use for many. I would rather press a button rather than swing a controller around to do the same thing :p

That said, motion controls for things like tilting is really nice, especially for Splatoon
