I think the problem with motion gaming is that companies tried to surf on the novelty and popularity to make quick cash ins by making crappy games. Some games were really well done and motion gaming still has an audience it's just not for the core and hardcore players.
To me it's a peripheral just like driving wheels. Why would I use a driving wheel to play a shooter, this makes no sense, then why should we use motion controls to play games not made for it? Dancing games are still fun and so are sports games with motion control.
There's a market for these games and type of control, but it's not for people that will buy a new console every generation for some little graphical improvements and 60$ for every games.
