I spend most of my time against Japanese players because of the similar time zone and it can occasionally be frustrating but it's not really that bad. (I'm an A+)

Couple of things I have noticed: they seem more likely to select the 1-2 hits to kill weapons than non Japanese. On certain maps and on tower control in particular, those weapons can be hard to overcome, due to the focused action and the large radius of impact for most of those weapons. Props to them for choosing the best weapon for the task but I don't personally enjoy using them.

I more frequently find myself on the receiving end of unexpected deaths i.e I die after 1-2 shots of a weapon that takes 4-5 shots to kill. I suspect this is just due to being out of favour with the ping Gods.

While that can occasionally place me in the path of an unsavoury beating, it's not problematic enough to ruin my enjoyment of the game.

Obviously the Japanese are just using hax.

I've noticed no difference in skill level, really, its a personal thing, not a nationality thing. I've seen just as many crap Japanese players as good ones, same as western ones.

I've heard this complaint from Japanese players about smash, being sick of western. It seems to actually hold up though, as everytime I play a Japanese player (almost all of the time since my systems are Japanese) in Smash, if I win they disconnect right away.

I don't really notice them being much better than the rest. I just notice that there's more of them when I play. Most of the time they don't even lag, so idgaf.

If anything I'm grateful. Gives me more victims to splat. I'm equal opportunity that way.

Well im from Australia, and in every match there is always more than 4 Japanese people i play with. Sooooo i cant really compare it with other regions.

But judging from Splatfest. I can tell that Japanese players are much better than 85% of EU/Aus inklings. No offence.

I don't really play it much, anymore. I watched my daughter play yesterday, though. The game is waaaaaaaaaaay faster and chaotic than any shooter in ever played. It was an amazing sight to see--and she was consistently the top player on her team. Either she's really good or we're just getting older. We think we're good at games but actually, were spoiled by hand holding and we actually suck.

There's some good players from Japan but tbh, there's good players from all regions. The big issue here really is that many players from Japan pick 1 or 2 shot weapons such as rollers, snipers, and sloshers and the lag on Nintendo's servers causes them to take more hits then they should to kill them. Because of this, I actually switched to using the Gal .96 Deco from the N-Zap. I've noticed a huge difference and now have a fighting chance against good players with quick killing weapons and lots of lag.
