But in the other question - people that whine and assume that pretending to be interested in someone will get them to like you are a little bit off.  I think most of the 'nice guys' have at least a mild form of something like Aspergers and do not realize how insensitive and callus they are. 

They just go over and over in their heads what they think they have done for others.  Which may or may not be connected with reality, and not realize that they might not be as nice as they think they are.   They feel sorry for themselves when they can't manipulate people to like/have sex with them.

No I do not think nice guys finish last, but I do think whiners never win.

Absolute 'Nice guys' are probably in a minority though. But it's not just nice and bad with no inbetween, there's a spectrum. And then a kid can be bad and turn out really nice and vice versa.

I think Hollywood has warped the whole concept of nice guy.

Relationship point of view it is all about gelling together with a person. Sometime maturity is a big factor, when two people are at different stages of their life they just won't gell as they looking for other things that excite them.

As for work, generally the person who can put up with the bullshit of office politics and play the game will win.

I think I'm a nice guy and I was highly sought after. Then, I became a whore for a few years. Now I'm back to being a nice guy.

Now don't get me wrong. I've been used before and I've seen situations where a girl will ditch a nice guy as soon as they get the opportunity for some asshole but here is the thing you need to consider; are you a " nice guy " or a "boring guy"?

In my experience no. Doesn't always mean it's a good thing though...

You get what you deserve. If you put the work in and are willing to push yourself then people will take notice and you'll do well. If you just rest up and don't have ambition, you'll fail. I've seen both examples quite closely for a long time and I know which one I want to be.

As for relationships I don't think girls are all that interested in the badass in the long term, they want someone who can look after them, someone to trust and talk to and to make them feel better about themselves. In this respect nice guys tend to do better in the long game but have more difficulty getting that far in the first place.

Overall, then, you can't stereotype or throw a blanket over everyone because everyone is different. I'll keep on being who I am because that seems to be working, but others are free to do what is best for them. We're all different after all
