Why are they great?

BECAUSE PS4 HAS THEM, SUCKA!!!! 73 50.34%

They aren't, they just hurt the industry. 56 38.62%

I always loved them! 16 11.03%

It just looks better when your console has more exclusive games, even if that includes 3rd Party

The more games on a platform, the better.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

With two platforms that are extremely similar, exclusive content is what makes them stick out.

Furthermore, exclusivity is often just as much about cock-blocking the competition from content as it is about getting content onto your platform.

For full games I'm fine and often prefer games to be exclusive. When it comes to dlc, it just comes of as a cheap lure.

Wait, all those Resistance and Killzone games don't count, why? Seems like Sony, since the PS3, have ignored their own RPG series (such as Dark Cloud, Ark the Lad, Legend of Dragoon, Legaia etc) to invest in the dudebros.

Could you drop the the dudebro rhetoric, even though I'm sticking my nose in a conversation that was using it since the begining? I conveniently ignored that said conversation was about how Sony itself has put most of it's emphasis on Shooters, and refocus it on the PS4 library because I believe it has the most diversity out of the 3(?), in hopes of making Sony look good. Shooters are popular in the west and Sony is simply following the trends like they always do. It's the logical way to gain a stronger foothold with the dudebros. This gen is proof that the third parties carrying Sony are not sacrificing any genre for another while Sony works in their army of FPS and open world games. Though, no other console manufacturer has really sacrificed any genre, but I'll pretend they did.

Fixed it for ya.

i consider 3rd party exclusive content for third party multiplats one the biggest anti-consumer moves out in this industry no matter if its Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo.

3rd party exclusivity is only good when it funds a game that would have been made otherwise. All other exclusive deals produce lose-lose situations for all gamers.

because sony has them

It's a good thing from a sales perspective. Let's be honest here, third party devs rule this industry, and whichever company gets the marketing rights to the biggest games, gets the highest sales, particularly in the US during the holidays. I'm a big PS fan, and I still don't care for them, personally, but at least Sony isn't using it as an excuse to only release 2 or 3 big AAA exclusives per year. There's still 10 left to go for the rest of 2015, alone.
