FFXI>FFX. Jk haha, actually never played FFX but was addicted to FFXI in eight grade. FFXI never gets mentioned here I noticed.

The feels that game gave :) best mmo Ive ever played. I dont get all the WoW hype, I could never really fall in love with WoW, but FFXI just hooked me like for 6-7years.

Man that game had so much challenge to it :) and I loved that if you where skilled you could solo bosses that normally took a party of 6 members to be able to deal with.

29 minuet long insanely focused DRG solo's Kirin (this was a old raid boss fight 24 members, back when level limit was 75):

I love that a single insanely skilled and geared drg at new level cap, is able to solo this.

I played black mage and I used to go to areas that were way over my level and nuke the pet enemies with flood or something and then run like hell once it was dead and reset the aggro or else its master would've 1 hit me lol, such good exp. Yea so many good memories. I never did the endgame content that much though. I remember hearing the hardest bosses were insane just never got around too it.

Around the Network

Suikoden II, Chrono Trigger, Lunar, FF VI and IX, just to name a few.

Yes, if anything FFX is pretty meh.

Final Fantasy IV, V, VI, VII & IX all best it.

All Dragon Quest games best it.

Chrono Trigger bests it.

I could go on for a very long time.

Far from the best RPG, Square or even PS2 game.

I completely agree with what you said. It has dull characters, which makes it a meh story, one of those dullest ways to level up. Easy game, unless you are willing enough and bored enough to do post game stuff.

Final Fantasy was my favorite franchise at one point and then FFX happened. Such a lousy entry in such a great series, the plot and characters were especially terrible. When I say that the plot and characters were terrible I mean by the low standards of video games let alone proper storytelling.

It's the second best game ever made imo.

there was it was called Final Fantasy 12

Xenogears. I would say the entire Xenosaga series is much better.

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

I liked it because it was good at being linear. I think it had some brilliant backstory as well; the history of Spira is quite interesting, if you dig around enough to learn about it. It made plenty of interesting statements; and I liked it because the character motivation, specifically the villainous motivations and backstory of New Yevon, was plausible.
Really though that is what sells me on a game: the pacing, the character motivation, the backstory etc. Also how good it is at being unique in its realm of fantasy. A battle between light and darkness is not unique (looking at you, Nomura). FF7 had themes of Environmentalism and eco-terrorism. FFX had themes of corruption in organized religion, and theocracy.
Really I could talk all day about FFX but I have to go to the gym now. Is it the best RPG of all time? No. Is it my favorite? Pretty close.
