Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Is the XB1 at 11 million sold by end of 2014?

???

Yes, XB1 is most likely a... 38 28.79%

No, but is probabily close. 26 19.70%

Absolutely NO, XB1 is waaay overtracked. 68 51.52%

Total:132

So, according to VGChartz, the XB1 is at 11 million sold by end of 2014.

We have not official XB1 shipment, but seem likely that is at 12 million by end of 2014.

That's mean XB1 is at 1 million difference between Sold and shipment... for a comparation, PS4 is at 1.4 million, official this time, 19.9m shipped and 18.5m sold... humm...

Now, what's think some company?

Take Two say XB1+PS4 are at 29m sold by end of 2014.

Ubisoft say XB1+PS4 are at 28m sold by end of 2014.

http://www.polygon.com/2015/2/3/7973035/grand-theft-auto-5-sales-45-million-ps4-xbox-one

According to Take Two and Ubisoft estimate, XB1 is at 10.5m (Take Two) and 9.5m (Ubisoft) sold... and of course, are just estimate... but if you ask me, Ubisoft and Take Two are more way more accurate than ioi, that's for sure, you don't think?

Now, another consideration.

XB1 sales in the US are usually 60% of total global sales. We know XB1 is at less than 6.2m sold in the US by end of 2014. (Source: NPD)

So, with 6.2m in the US, the XB1 SHOULD be at 10.3m sold globally... and a important mention: in 2014, the XB1 pricedrop at 350$ was only in the US for Nov+Dec... that's SHOULD mean XB1 ratio in the US is become even bigger than 60%... but is also true that XB1 is coming in some new countries (even if all of those new countries are pretty nothing, like Japan or China)... so ok, let's say XB1 ratio in the US is still 60%... (and still, we have 10.3m WW is is true)

Now. The final thing for why i make this thread.

On amazon, the XB1 + AC Unity bundle is STILL selling... again? Wow, seem SERIUSLY that Microsoft overship this bundle even by a lot... many user on the Amazon thread starting to ask if XB1 is overtracked... just some comment.

Last of what i want say.

Microsoft ship IN ONE DAY 100k in China...

A recently rumor say that XB1 is AFTER 8 MONTH at 72k sold (outsold by PS4 in one month)... just a example of how Microsoft can overship a console...

So, after that, what do you think?

Is XB1 at 11 million sold by end of 2014? or what?

PERSONALLY: i always said it was overtracked... not sure by how much, but probabily between 500k and 1m.

Around the Network

Well yeah, it's overtracked, not a surprise. Especially in europe and Row i guess, that's what i said since december.

Neogaf estimated Xone under 10M for the end of 2014 too, or just barely hit the 10M mark.

But it's only estimation, we can only trust real numbers...and no one give them for Xboxone.

Assassin's Creed bundle still being in stock does suggest a significant over-shipment, and it's not just Amazon because retail workers on gaf have confirmed they still have the bundle in stock despite not getting any new shipments for it in months. In terms of consoles on shelves, it makes sense that X1 has 400k less than PS4, because as we know PS4 is comfortably outselling it, and thus needs more consoles available around the world.

Ratio is an interesting argument, but can't give you anything concrete. It is difficult to know how much X1 sales increased in countries like the UK around November and December.

If I had to guess, I would say slight overtracking, but we are probably always going to be guessing with X1

That's why this thread. VGChartz is the only source that have XB1 at ~11m sold, when we have so many source that have XB1 at 9/10 million by end of 2014...

I think the majority of us have had a hunch that it's over tracked here.
I also think ps4 numbers are under tracked but I've been wrong on that once before.

Either way, very unlikely we'll know the truth for at least one of the platforms.

IMO it didn't even crossed 10 million sold.

They really overshipped huge this time.

But MS will never say the real sales numbers.

And VGC stopped to track sales few months ago.

Well, for be correct, Sony confirmed PS4 is at 20.2m sold by 1 March 2015, VGChartz have PS4 at 20.34m...

Dude, your threads are such a mess and you have no idea what you're referencing half the time.

Here is GfK and NPD estimated data to give us a rough idea of how Xbox One sold in 2013 and 2014.

In 2013 the Xbox One sold through more than 3 million units to end users.
As of the end of 2014 the Xbox One sold through more than 8.7 million units to end users, however this number excludes December in the UK and Tier 1 and Tier 2 countries for 2014. It's likely that sales will have been over 10 million if not around 10.5 million based on IDG estimates.

It is more than likely that X1 was at around 12mn by Dec 31st, since it passed 10mn in October and had a massive December. It sucks that MS won't release numbers, they should just accept another generation as number 2, which is far from bad.
