Not sure if the "trying to surprise Sony" part is quite right -- common sense would suggest that, like with the Xbox One, Microsoft is just running behind schedule and will launch pretty hot -- but I've talked to a few third-party developers who said they were frustrated by the lack of info on Scarlett, especially compared to Prospero.

Na, they've let us know about the next box at e3. There's no chance of them being behind schedule either.

It'll be so close to specs and components with the PS5, I doubt 3rd parties will particularly suffer due to not having any access to the Scarlett kit.

Trying to keep something a "secret" doesn't exactly seem logical either. I'd put money on both of the companies knowing exactly what the other is building.

I could see MS being behind schedule if they learned that the PS5 was stronger than Scarlett. They might be tweaking things to make sure Scarlett is more powerful.

^ Agreed. There was no other way of getting the next Xbox to the highest echelon without essentially seeing what Sony will do first.

Microsoft should go again with a discless version of their next console. Scarlett for $499 and Scarlett All Digital for $349-$399.

Digital version either means GamePass subscriptions or huge revenue from the store.

If they are as committed as they seem to make GamePass the big winner, they should go with $349.

$100 is the absolute minimum they should go for an All Digital Scarlett possibly $150 but anything under $100 less I think would be pointless and the $50 difference on the SAD showed us no one really cared about that small of a gap to loose the disc drive.

So we are talking about these for prices?

$499 - Xbox Scarlett with disc drive

$399 - Xbox Scarlett All Digital Edition

Yeah something like that, I'm still on the $449 price point though so

$449 - Xbox Scarlett with disc drive

$349 - Xbox Scarlett All Digital Edition

I don't think we will see a weaker Lockhart just a SAD Scarlett which makes sense as we are already at the point of 50/50 on Physical/digital and potentially even higher at the jump into next gen, There will probably be at around 33% the userbase that have absolutely no interest in the physical medium anymore along with those who only buy physical with the other third still stuck in the middle of getting both depending on the best deals.

Just imagine only having to pay $349 and getting 1-3 months of Gamepass with the console straight out of the box and having access to Halo Infinite, One of the Forza games and another launch exclusive not to mention all the first party games already out from X1. Last gen day one for what I bought PS4 console + Knack and Killzone: Shadowfall that was $520, Not having to spend $120-180 for a few games like previous gen could be a massive selling point for MS with the Scarlett.

It's definitely an aggressive price point , Maybe I'm been to optimistic on it?

I need to get onto gears... I've been too busy with outer worlds or trying to get my achievements to 100k before NeXbox Scarlett arrives. Easily achievable now. I just want a healthy buffer so if I have a month or 3 that I don't get any cheevos for whatever reason, I'll be in the clear.

I hope there is no stealth segments in Gears 6. Gears is not built for stealth and it shows.

No stealth, open world or player choices please. Trying to fix what isn't broken by just throwing half-baked ideas mechanics from other games into the mix is awful. Don't get the hype for Gears 5 story either thb.. Stuff about origins of Locust was something we already knew but they just had to tie it to Kait. Meh.

Continued Gears 5 just yesterday. Did most of the side missions in Act 3. I'm fine with the open world stuff but it's a little too empty and some of the side missions are nothing more than infested areas with standard Swarm enemies. A little more creativity would've been nice.
