Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft does another 180: Cancels indie parity clause

Now indies will be cool.

Indies have been cool all gen now that market leader Sony has a lot of them and there are loads of PS4 fans here. Only last gen was it not cool when really only MS utilized them and there are far less MS fans here.

Anyway, has anything really changed? They have always took stance where they want the game to come out day one on  their console as well, or include more content. aka the same policy Sony had last gen. What changed? They have always given "exemptions" as well.

Seems its the same policy. Which i think is dumb, but it doesnt really seem to make any difference games wise. The big ones come to Xbone anyway.

Why did that even exist in the first place?

Do fanbases ever get tired of trying to call each other out? lol

I already guessed that certain comments would be made when I read the title, sure enough I see them. Anyways this is great news for gamers and devs alike.

they have to do that, because if not they would not have any indie game at all, since most of those games are releasing on the PS4 first.

They still have a parity clause, just not as harsh as before. Or rather, non-parity in their advantage. I think comparisons to other platforms are stupid and the games should be judged on their own, on that single platform.

Terrible Terrible news, where is the backbone MSFT.

Because even when you're wrong, you should still "stick to your guns".  That's how you get things done.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

This is great news!

Gaining indie support through ease of development and the new XBO/W10 tools is the right way to go about it! I'm sure XBO will get more support from the indie scene after these announcement.

Nice move. Now that second rule also needs to go.

Actually this is something more or less common on both sides. There have been many instances where once a game, indie or even AAA, make it to Playstation after Xbox, there was some minor DLC included off the bat as an equalizer.

The second rule is just looking out for Xbox customers. Even something as trivial as costume skins would count.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

its the American way!

I think the 2nd part is far enough, if a game gets released way later it should have something extra unless its super cheap
