Which is the better game series, Metroid or Resistance?

I will go with Resistance, Insomniac Games did a very good job with this series.
Metroid is in my eyes totally overhyped, can't understand the hype for the series at this site.

I know Metroid is the vastly more popular one. I LOVE Resistance 1, liked Resistance 2, and didnt care for Resistance 3. As a Sony guy I think Metroid is probably still the better series. Now Killzone or GoW is a different matter

I'm a huge PS fan, but this is not even a legitimate question.  There is no question that Metroid is a better franchise.  Resistance 1 was great, then it went downhill after that. 

Metroid is the much better series, but i enjoyed Resistance more (specifically the co-op in the 2nd). I've tried several times, but I've never been able to get into the Metroid games, especially the Prime trilogy. Just doesn't work for me (though the quality of the titles is undeniable).

while im not shocked you find resistance better they are completely different games and shouldn't even be compared to each other because of that.

While Resistance is the only FPS I can really play on consoles, Metroid is my favorite video game series and the quality is not even comparable. There is a reason why Super Metroid and Metroid Prime make almost everyone's top 50 video game list, and the previous one usually in the top ten.

Comparing the two series makes as much sense as comparing God of War and Kid Icarus.
