It surprises me how popular the Xbox One and PS4 are considering that there aren't many great games on the system. Bloodborne looks to be a saving grace but that's not enough.

This gen can be summed up as:

- Broken games (Halo: MCC, Assassin's Creed, The Crew, Driveclub). Ridiculous. No excuses for all this crap!

- EXTREMELY underwhelming overhyped games (Watch Dogs, Destiny, COD: AW). Destiny, Watch Dogs, etc. etc. should've been mega hits but instead they are some of the best 7/10 games around

- Too many dang remasters. Enough! It works OK for something like Halo because a) the games are old b) It's like Mario All-Stars but we don't need every flippin game remastered! The Last of Us should've just been a PS4 only title anyway. There are more remasters than actual new installments of franchises

- Nintendo has been a huge disappointment. We finally get an HD Nintendo console and what do they do? Give us a 3DS sequel (3D World), and give us another weird looking Zelda game instead of a cool ass looking Zelda game like the E3 2011 demo.

- Games that had a lot of potential but just seem incomplete. On one spectrum you have The Order, which is single player only but only has 5-8 hours of gameplay (u wot m8?), and on the other side of the spectrum you have Titanfall which is multiplayer only but very barebones (only a few game modes and such)

- No backward compatibility. Instead they want to resale us the older games or get their cloud service instead. Lame! I want to get rid of my PS3 but can't.

- ADDED: Almost all publishers are dead as well. No more THQ, Eidos, etc. etc. There seems to be only 5 publishers publishing games every year. Even Konami, Capcom, Namco, Japanese Square Enix, are no shows.

Anyone else agree? There are no differences between the PS4 and Xbox One now. Even Sony is charging for online.

Agreed :---) except for zelda wii u... Awesome art-style... Didnt like mario 3d world though... Returned it after two weeks and bought mario kart 8 instead

Ive enjoyed it a lot actually.

MCC was broken but still liked it. Wasnt really interested in AC, The Crew, or Driveclub anyways.

Sunset Overdrive, Alien: Isolation, and Forza Horizon have all been amazing. I really liked Garden Warfare, Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, TitanFall, Oddworld, Strider, and plenty more.

Destiny was also really good and played it a lot. I know people criticize it, but i liked it a lot.

And of course my favorite game this generation, Killer Instinct xD

Then there is also plenty of Vita and 3DS games i like. I dont know how many games i own this generation but its a lot across PS4, XBO, VIta, WiiU, and 3DS. The only console im genuinely disappointed in is the WiiU

PS4, while i havent got much for it yet, im very excited for Bloodeborn, Persona 5, and Uncharted.

So yeah, ive enjoyed this generation a lot actually

Sunset Overdrive was actually pretty good, and how I want some next-gen games to be like. A new unique IP that is fun to play.

Can someone make an official "This generation sucks discussion thread"? There's so many people posting about this generation sucking that there might as well be a whole thread for them.

Wii U has a decent library of great games. I actually really like the look of the new Zelda game too.

Overall though... I agree, this generation has been a bit lackluster so far.

I don't know. First 1,5 to 2 years of a generation never have blockbuster after blockbuster. I feel this year might really change things, because I do agree that last year was quite shit.

There is always going to be those developers that do.  I think its important to note that a lot of the big devs havent really had their chance to make a big impact like EPIC Games, Bethesda, Rock star, Kojima Productions, Naughty Dog, From Software, 343i, Black Tusk, CD Project Red, Crystal Dynamics,  etc.  There will be plenty to come :)

This is a reason why I didn't enter the new gen so far. What is even more worrying to me is that both consoles do quite well and that one of both is doing so extremely well.
