How about the ability to delete your account?  I believe every site should give the option to remove your account completely.  The ones that don't allow this should be sued or forced to give the option.

No. I disagree with that way of thinking. It's the internet and each website is it's own nation. You can't simply or easily force them to do anything. The french have been trying to sue and legally censor websites for a while now. They couldn't actually force them to do anything. Sueing for anything and everything is one of the many reasons why americans are ruining their own country. If I were a member of the website staff, I wouldn't add that feature just because of what you said. :D

I believe that if you make an account with any company then you should be able to delete that account.  You brought up the French but I believe you meant the Spanish with their efforts to get Google to remove bad things said about people from their search results (or you could be talking about the French too).  These are companies not nations.  Nations can tell companies what to do (especially when it comes to the internet: China).  What I am talking about is different.  This isn't a negative news story that I'm trying to hide from search results.  This is about being able to control and remove accounts to websites that you signed up on.

Sure some sites might make it hard to delete your account (Facebook, with their default option being to disable and you have to dig around to find out how to delete account "entirely").  You can latch onto the sue part and try to make yourself look better (get off your high horse if you ask me) but the fact is a person should be able to remove themselves from a site and not just some bullshit permaban.  An individual should have the right to remove themselves entirely from any website that they sign up on.

Let me rephrase my first statement so it doesn't look like I am sue happy American.

Nations should make laws that allow users the ability to leave a site and remove all trace of their account.  If companies fail to comply then they should be sued until they comply.

I'm sure they would try to at least add the feature if people asked for it nicely. That's the problem, you're not being nice about it. You have this "do this or I'll sue" attitude which is a perfect example of the sue happy american sterotype. One of the things I was trying to point out was that even if your lawsuit succeded and a judge ordered them to do something, It doesn't mean that a website would actually do it. That's why I brought up france. France constantly tries to sue websites into doing what they want but it doesn't work because the websites' servers are not in france. They simply don't comply with foreign court orders. I don't know about the spanish on this. Vgchartz is based out of the UK btw.

I don't think that governments should have any more legal reach than they do already. I like that the internet is similar to international waters. If someone is worried that their activity on website could be traced back to them, they shouldn't be on that website or try to hide it better.  I'm not on a high horse. i'm in the mud on this. You want more legal overreach by governments while I do not. France is a france and they can't censor me because they simply disagree with what I said. :D haha Anyway, I completely disagree with you.

Why such a tizzy over deleting accounts?, better sue the nsa for not giving you your god given american right to delete the data they have stored on you, too.

Good news, we all know improvements are long over do for the site.

I don't care for that way of thinking.  Do this or I'll sue. A false sense of entitlement. On the nsa, they'll just try to stonewall ya and tell ya that it was somehow lost then delay eveything til the media/people lose interest.  It would be easier and more productive to that goal just to limit the data that they can collect and what they can do with it but make sure there's harsh punishments if they go too far.

Man I miss VGChartz Blue.

I was  being sarcastic :P

Oh my god! I've been listened to on VG Chartz were getting are new Talonman!

Can't wait for the improvements, finally the site will live again!!!

One thing is don't forget to give a purpose to points again. Right now it's just forum activity, really requires no effort you post because you want to not because you want to help the site. Bring back the database entries, the prediction league (which is by far the most unique thing to ever come out of VG Chartz and gives us a purpose for are points), let the users submit news articles and let them be pre approved (there was a point where VG Chartz had the most up to date news on gaming then most websites).

We gotta get creative again, give the users a chance to help make this site great, reward us with points, give us something to do with these points, let the users keep VG Chartz up to date instead of rellying on just staff.

It's hard to tell with you sometimes. :D

i seriously cant wait for this. ever since vgchartz 3.0 happened (when everything turned gamr this and gamr that) i was so disappointed with it. in fact, im still not really all that used to it, and i would love to see as many changes to this site as possible. preferably the old school white and blue theme that it used to have. those were the days.
